Nothing will beat the original ad campaign. First they plastered these propaganda posters everywhere with slogans like "we come in peace" and Friendship is Universal. Then gradually someone came around and spray painted a red V onto the poster.

i think this will be more of an allegory of how we are handling the "war on terrorism", with a lot more grey.

The original V boiled down to us vs. them, and them people are evil. (But showing us how some of "us" succumb to helping the "dark side")

Nah, the characters of Willie, played by Robert Englund, and Martin, played by Frank Ashmore, gave us some perspective. It wasn't about good people vs evil people. The vast majority of the Visitors were good people, just doing what they thought was right due to loyalty to their people and their government. It was about a cruel and desperate regime vs the people of Earth.


I don't think that alien contact series lend themselves well to the exploration of religious faith or fanaticism. They're aliens, and they're provably real. The only question is their motives, which makes it a matter of trust, or lack of it, rather than faith.

This is the most update V related website around.. We are only new, less than a week, but within six months we will be the most detailed source of EVERYTHING V related.. Thus becoming the " Encyclopedia of V.." Whether it be the new series, the motion picture, the original; anything relating to V you will find here..

The notion that the way to calm people down and reassure them is to appear as a gigantic face looking down from the sky is stupid beyond belief, as is the pretense that crowds of human beings would react to that kind of thing with spontaneous applause.

I do not know. It might not be as outlandish as it first appears. If you are an alien species making first contact, the least shocking way to communicate would be to do so through a human image like that. If they showed what they really looked like then be are going to be more focused on how different and possibly grotesque you are and less about what you are trying to communicate.

An alternative to hovering over major population centers and displaying this directly below them would be to basically override normal broadcasts but that could be construed as a hostile act.

I agree it isnt likely that people would clap at the end but I think the way the aliens introduce theirself isnt completely crazy.

Audio communications only until the preliminaries are worked out would be a better choice, all things being equal. It makes one appear less deceitful.
Likewise, simply communicating with world leaders until the preliminaries can be worked out would be better.

Of course, the giant head, if anything, makes them seem more naive.
