First 'V: Visitors' scenes released

I'm actually pleasantly surprised. I was expecting just a dumber and flashier version of the original movie, but it looks like they're trying for something a bit different and more subtle this time.

boyish short hair does not suit her....she looks better with longer hair like she did on firefly. and where was Tudyk? I vaguely remember the miniseries. Pretty cool to see the guy from the 4400 in this. almost like their plucked actors from different sci fi shows.

Fascinating. I hope this show is a fun, fast paced drama like Burn Notice and not a medium of yawn inducing boredom like NuBSG.

I just watched the upfront trailer for the series, and it looks even cooler than the clips, although Morena is still majorly creepifying (although I guess that's probably the point).

Looking good. I agree about the applause being silly. Our real reaction would be to nuke em. I hope it is good. Loved the original mini series when I was a kid. Rented it a few years ago. It did not age well, but I still enjoyed it. I hope this is good.

The notion that the way to calm people down and reassure them is to appear as a gigantic face looking down from the sky is stupid beyond belief, as is the pretense that crowds of human beings would react to that kind of thing with spontaneous applause.

Yeah, but what a face.

I didn't even recognize her.

I swear, Whedon's female Firefly actors get stuck doing the worst scifi schtick on the planet - "Stargate Atlantis," "Sarah Connor" and now this. The guys fare a little better - Fillon and Tudyk seem to be finding real work.

I've seen Castle-you call that real work? Flat, boring, formulaic and very predictable. Giving it a pass, now.

Saraconochron might not have been Shakespeare but it was two seasons' work for Summer Glau and she acquitted herself well. It's not as though she has much clout with the writers or anything.

I dunno, I am still wait and see. I know it may have been cheesey but I rather liked the notion of them required to wear sun glasses in our sunlight and the funny voices. Not to mention I loved the take on the Nazi "It can happen here' aproach.

Somehow the subtle and slow occupation of the cities of earth which parrelled the occupation of Europe by the Nazi's was a little hard to watch. I loved the old man's reactions as he saw at first what no one else did having lived through the German occupation and the speech at the end from his son about 'we have to help...or else we havent learned a thing (That scene is still a little moving )

So I sorta miss the old red/black and gold military goosestepping feel of the Visitors. But then again we have only seen Anna. So I will play this by ear and I am interested to see where they take this.

V was for Visitors at first then turning into V for Victory by the resistance. I think that is how I remember it. It looks interesting. I buy the hole giant head in the sky as a totalitarian culture's idea of mass communication. They'll just amp the volume when they yell "we'll kill you now" at the end of season one.

Morena Baccarin is fantastic casting, cool, beautiful, but clearly withholding something. I just hope she gets to deep throat a hamster.(I hope that sentence makes sense for those who saw the original)

She flat out said "we came to take your water." And people cheer.

While I agree with you that the cheering was unrealistic, "We came for your water and are going to offer you some of our tech in return" is A LOT different than "We came for your water and will destroy and enslave you in doing so".
