First spy PHOTOS of Quinto as Spock

They do that so you know they took the pics. I bet also so they can't be reposted by someone else claiming they took the shot.

Noooooooo, you don't say. I'd never have guessed that's why they do it.

From a distance, Quinto mimics Nimoy's asesthetic pretty well.

Close-up, there are glaring differences, but he has the look downpat probably closer than anyone else would.

Biggest tell is acting. That's the real key.

Well, in Quinto's defense the younger actors who played Spock after his body was regenerated and starting maturing on the Genesis Planet didn't really look much like Nimoy in close-up shots, either. Any actor who plays a younger Spock will by definition not be a complete dead-ringer for Leonard Nimoy, even with modern makeup prosthetics.

Wow, you're right - eerie resemblance! And the hair is less dorky than I feared.

I should check TWOP and taunt the Sylar fans there. They must be having a heart-attack over those eyebrows.

Good call Temis. You should ask JJ a piece of the actions!

All I ask is a hot Kirk/Spock scene that will make that NIN YouTube video look like the Telletubbies by comparison. :rommie:

Failing that: don't frak up the Romulans, okay?

And tell us what the island is already!

Yeah, "The Cage" has him wearing the rattiest bangs of any Vulcan who isn't living in the desert, meditating and pursuing the teachings of Surak. ;) But since he is half-human and only about 24 years old at that point and still blending into a mostly-human and Terracentric Starfleet, maybe he let his hair be a little shaggier in order to fit in.

Jees, Thats heavy. '(c) Marty McFly. 1985.'

The resemblance in make up is uncanny.

Lets just hope he can act the part aswell as look the part.

I don't know. I'm trying to remain open-minded, but Quinto has some large ears to fill and I'm not convinced he can. Hopeful though.

They said the same about Sean Connery. And no matter what one thought of the George Lazenby Bond movie, you have to admit that a couple of 007's since Connery left the stage have been pretty awesome. Sure, Quinto can't REPLACE Nimoy. Nor should he. But to paraphrase Valeris's own conversation with Spock in STAR TREK VI: "He can only succeed him."

Lazenby to me has been the Best Bond so far playing in the Best ever film true to the book and one of the most physical. He was young enough (29) to play until Dalton took over.

I loved OYMSS. and agreed that Lazenby was THE best Bond ever. I'd place him above Connery. And after Connery, comes Craig.

Bond was a book way before it was a movie. It had legs before it had legs so to speak. (Err, I'll let you figure that out.) Nimoy brought the character of Spock out in such an interesting and complex way even Roddenberry hadn't predicted his popularity or interest.

What if I were to say something like, "Let's have a new Han Solo." Or you know, Data needs a bit sprucing. Let's have the the dude who plays Jim from the Office play Data. My mind has not made the leap. Why have "new Coke" when "classic Coke" is soooo good? You know?

I will say I'm here, which means I'm trying to keep an open mind. Some of the casting choices seem brilliant, some make we wonder who's in charge of this thing. The dude who plays Skylar? Nimoy is a better actor. But I'll keep an open mind -- just skeptically open. ;)
