What makes a "Big Hollywood Movie"?

Posters from the 2009 movie
Take special look at the Spanish and Japanese posters from the 09. How vague can you get? At least the Us, UK and other Europe posters gave us a blatant portayal of what they were advertising. Take the words star trek off the Spanish and Asian posters and you have no idea what you're looking at. And that's the Into Darkness poster. Vague.
"Into darkness" stands with large and clear print, however "star trek" is small and opaque. Many people will not know it's star trek. Is this part of marketing?
Oh noThe ears...

I saw comments on the TrekMovie thread insisting there were grey sideburns/temples visible in that poster image.
"Therefore... Gary Mitchell!"
I'm not seeing it, myself.
It will be deliberate. It's designed in a way that you take in all the other visual aspects of the poster before registering "Star Trek". They're going for mass appeal omitting the old stereotypes. Good job."Into darkness" stands with large and clear print, however "star trek" is small and opaque. Many people will not know it's star trek. Is this part of marketing?
