First Poster

See, why can't the actual studios make posters like this most of the time?

Oh, BTW, I like your Abrams Enterprise "Cars" avatar. Warp Speed McQueen? :)

Thanks. :)

As promised, here is a link to the full size version, from my website...

I actually like that better than the real, official one. Nice job! :bolian:

Thanks. :)

Man, do I love your work!!!:techman:
What they said.

See this is what I'm talking about: I see that on a theater wall, I'm wanting to see the story. It stands out from the flock of other posters, and it's framed in such a way that 1) it looks amazing even if you aren't a Trek fan 2) If you are a fan it packs even more punch. The studios really need to Madman on the payroll.

Ya' know what I, as the truest of the true blue of Trekkies, hate?! Everything after 'The Man Trap'! That's right, I'm talkin' about the episode friction' airdates. No production order here! No sir!
The Man trap? I wouldn't sully my mouth with that trash! Everything after The Cage is terrible! Thank god that episode didn't air, or it would probably endure the same fate as all the other god-awful episodes!!

Actually scratch that, anything before The Cage is an abomination! Truly terrible episodes... oh wait there weren't any... Good thing too! This Star Trek m'larky is an insult to Gene Roddenberry's vision... For "The Lieutenant"!!

I know... sometimes movies like The Avengers get awesome posters, but others don't. All depends on the group that designed it. Which might be part of the problem... designed by committee. :)

I'm glad you like the avatar... I have several images on my website, in the wallpaper gallery. I made them for my son, to hang up in his room. :)

Please--quit your day job! ;)

Would be awesome if I could. :)

That is FANTASTIC.

Alright. Fuck this. WHO LET DEANNA TROI FLY THE ENTERPRISE AGAIN?

Have fun guys... can't wait until tomorrow!

Speaking (as many in this thread have) of one film's poster ripping off the style of another... Am I the only one who recognizes this ESB poster as a pretty blatant rip-off of this "Gone With The Wind" poster?

As far as the new Trek poster resembling the last Dark Knight poster goes? Chances are both resemble countless movie posters that proceeded them. One can see that as being "terribly derivative and unoriginal" or can just as easily see it as "paying homage to the great traditions of the past".

Also, one can say that pretty much all movie posters by Jock (a/k/a Mark Simpson) look pretty much like every other movie poster he's ever done, as he tends to create images from "negative space", not only in his film posters, but in his comic work as well.

In fact, in Star Wars fan circles this is referred to as the "Gone With the Wind" poster. Fans recognized the obvious (and almost certainly intentional) similarities ages ago and started circulating the nickname for the Empire poster when I was younger.

How about this? I hope MadMan doesn't mind me borrowing his Enterprise :alienblush:

I'd maybe darken it up a bit to make the storm look more ominous, but otherwise this is actually kind of awesome.

Why do I get the feeling that I'm going to be really disappointed by the real movie if the Enterprise doesn't end up submerged in the ocean?
