I've never read PKD's original story, so I can't comment on that. I'm just tired of everybody treating the first movie like it's some sacred thing and acting like this new movie (which is not a remake, but a completely different adaptation of the original story) is some form of heresy.
I like the original story.
I don't like Total Recall.
It's probably too early to make any kind of judgement, but I'd guess that the new film owes more to the Arnold flick than the Dick story... because it looks like it's a, you know, action movie, and there's not a lot of action in the story.
I'm just more peeved that
this is really the new PKD film in the works. Not 'some pretentious indie director tackles Ubik' or 'Paul Giamatti plays Philip K. in biopic'.
No, let's go back to the well of using PKD's literature as a wraparound device for explosions.
Maybe it'll be good, sure. In fairness
The Adjustment Bureau was good. I just know the kind movie I'd rather.
The new Conan movie has been treated in a very similar manner, and for similar (and equally idiotic) reasons.
Hey, at least Jason Momoa has black hair. That's one advantage he has over Arnold (that and his tour de force as Khal Drogo).
