First Impressions of Who Mourns For Adonais...

I am finally working on catching up on my project of watching every TOS episode, and wanted to share my impressions for discussion.

1: Did they spend the money originally budgeted for Checkov's wig on the hand, because it would explain a lot. If that is the case it was probably the proper choice.
2:I kind of want to wear Apollo's outfit for Halloween.
3: Good thing we have a Greek Mythology Expert on board.
4: Also, a good thing she can pull of the outfit.
5:Being all seeing and hearing would really useful for Apollo as far has godlike powers go.
6:Good work by Spock and Co.
7:The storm and image thing makes Apollo seem a shade creepy.
8:Overall though, I quite enjoyed the episode, and the examination of the theme.

. . . Also, a good thing she can pull off the outfit.
It was a good thing she could keep the outfit on!

Waste not, want not. Leslie Parrish in Mannix a few months later:

From the episode "The Girl In The Frame"...

IMDB Summary:

Wealthy art collector Calvin Norris, while visiting an artist friend, sees a woman modeling for a sculptor in the studio across the alley. Norris is shocked. The woman looks exactly like the subject of a Renoir painting he owns. He tries to get to the woman but she is gone before he can get to the sculptor's studio. Norris hires Mannix and Intertect to track the woman down. Norris is more interested in her than the possibility his painting is a forgery. Mannix, relying more on legwork than Intertect's computers, finds the woman, who, it turns out is really an artist and only models occasionally. It also turns out that Lang, the sculptor, is prone to violence. Mannix is convinced Linda is in danger and he's determined to crack the conspiracy.
Also, the big guest star of that episode was William Windom, as wealthy art collector Calvin Norris, along with Michael Pataki as the sculptor Lang.

2:I kind of want to wear Apollo's outfit for Halloween.
If you have a lean and muscular body go for it, otherwise go as Commander Riker from (ENT) These Are The Voyages, being Halloween you'll likely scare more children.

The music in this one was real standout, was reused frequently in subsequent episodes, esp the melancholy "remembering the past" motif.

For those who read the books, this episode leads into one of the important plot points of New Frontier. Palamas also was in Prime Directive.

Carolyn Palamas and Marlena McGiver showed audiences just how stupid and quivering idiots will get over a man in the 23rd century. They were supposed to be intelligent, and they couldn't have been bigger buffoons.

As opposed to all the guys in the crew going gaga over "Mudd's Women"? :)

Remember that the original scripted ending had McCoy pronouncing Palamas pregnant with Apollo's child, a story point developed for the 24th century "New Frontier" novels by Peter David, ie. USS Excalibur Starfleet officer Mark McHenry.
