First contact's original timeline was middle of the millenia

Hey there,

I imagine quite a few may be aware that First contact's original setting was in the middle of the last millenia gone by.;)

Somewhat interesting and amusing, but seriously all that witch craft madness of that time in Western Europe would of driven that borg queen completely potty herself! She'd be a witch herself.

I could never quite get my head around the Renaissance setting, so it was unsurprisingly dropped. It probably would have been like that Voyager episode with Da Vinci building his flying machine.

I was intrigued by the idea of a Renaissance setting, but I suspect the final result would have seemed more like a thinly disguised Doctor Who story than a Star Trek story. The rumored finale -- an army of Borg attacking a castle -- would have been like an army of Cybermen doing the same. :)

This is kind of thing that you could probably get away with in an episode of the show, but for a big budget movie this idea just sounds cheesy as hell.

The Queen would has regarded the political and social events of an area she was seeking to assimilate as irrelevant.

Sure, but the whole purpose was to hit humankind in the stench, while they were living in they're filth that way, there would be no future of the good and the great, and the egotists who would dance. Hehe!
