First character images from Prodigy released on Twitter

[Somebody demands that Prodigy immediately gets its own forum in 5, 4, 3...]
Beat me to it .
But on the topic of the designs, I like em, using the animation medium to make less humanoid looking alien shows alot of potential. While I'm not this show's target audience I might give it a try.

I'm sure that someone on YouTube is saying that in this image they have hidden all the clues that Kurtzman has been secretly fired and this new show is a clear sign that all other Star Trek shows are a collective failure, but they are afraid to admit that ;)
The conspiracy theorists never rest....

Expecting clean greys and beige everything... Is not a good idea, imo.
These are kids who are straight up pirating(legitimate salvage!) a wrecked Starfleet ship. Chances are, they're not in the system we've been shown in Trek so far.

There's also the practical side of things. We know we're getting Janeway and probably Starfleet in some form. There has to some kind of visual difference between these two groups, lest we fall into the same hole of sameness that has beige'd Trek since TNG.

Its an art style with very-probably-great underlying narrative reasons. Its not going to hurt anyone.

It's been interesting when it comes to my initial impressions of things. I was very enthusiastic for Disco and Picard, but disappointed. Not very enthusiastic for Lower Decks and The Orville but I ended up loving them.
same here, so definitely giving it a chance.

But yes, this looks waaaay bad to me. And I saw it he imagine in the article and didn’t register it at all, thinking it was from some bad videogame or something...then I scrolled back and realized it was supposed to be the crew!

Meh, but I am still partially excited to see if my (soon to be) 5 year old will like it. It does look kind of generic and not obviously Trek.

I like Lower Decks, more than any recent series, actually

But I find the title sequence and the opening of the first episode incredibly stupid. Also the theme music is just way unoriginal.

I was kinda saddened by the trailer and pretty much by the whole first episode back then. Yet, it evolved into my favorite cartoon.

It saved my impression of modern Trek and has me waiting for more.

I love the title sequence, it really just sums up what the show is all about.

I'm looking forward to this more than other shows. I have no idea why, as we haven't really gotten more than a basic premise. But something about this is just really drawing me in.

Well, I'll wait and see... I wasn't a fan of DSC when it began, now it is okay I guess. I still cringe with things like the Tardis Interiors, but it has gotten better. I was skeptical of Lower Decks and now I love it.
So... time will tell.
And I am tired of all the arguments. There are soo many Shows old and new: If you like them, great! If you don't like them, that is okay too. You don't need to watch it, if you don't like it.

So... based on the Characters I'd think the stocky alien looks like a Talaxian. And if the rocky alien is a Brikkar, that would cool. Final Frontier was an awesome Book Series.

I'm delighted. Discovery and Picard are far too human-centric. give me spiky rock aliens and talking blobs and cobbled together robots over humans any day. If I wanted to see humans only, I wouldn't be watching sci-fi.
