First and last names of minor characters

@Extrocomp if you have that species list compiled like the chatacter list you sent me, I could make a page for it on the Litverse Reading Guide, if thats something you'd be interested in.
In the interest of reader clarity, maybe separate the ship and character lists into two?

Extrocomp has sent me several updates since I first posted the list. And he did send me a copy of his species list as well. I'll get it up sometime soon.
Does anyone else think characters and ships should be separated? I've always preferred having all my information in one place.
Would that really be necessary? If a writer has a character in mind to include in a new novel, then they would already know about the character's first or most prominent appearances.
Could be one list with a subheading for characters and another for ships. Seems odd to lump them together, frankly.
I know they refer to ships as "she", but this is ridiculous.

I was responding to the fact that ships and characters are lumped together on the list. By "they" I mean anyone who calls a ship "she".

Maybe, but what about us regular fans who are just looking through the list and are wondering where the characters appeared?
I don't know if it would necessarily be a guarantee that an author would remember what episode a character appeared in.
Speaking as a writer, I had no idea who many of the characters you listed were. Just a name in isolation isn't enough for those of us who don't have photographic memories. It doesn't make much sense not to specify the episodes the characters are from.
But what's the point of a reference list that requires you to check a different reference source for important information?
Ideally, you wouldn't. The list is a start for now.
Would anyone like to add a section that lists the sub-departments/specialties these characters had? So, if you see someone in a blue shirt walking down the hallway and he gets lines, but you don't know whether he's a geologist or a medical tech or a historian (as he is never seen in the context of doing his job), but a book says he's a botanist, that would be worth knowing too.

Sorry for being away for so long. I've moved the ships onto a separate Word document and I'm in the process of adding first appearances to the character list. I've also started work on a list of planets. When I'm done, I'll email all the lists to ryan123450.
Could you possibly list species next to Humanoid crew members such as Number One, who is sometimes said to be Human, sometimes Illyrian?
Isn't there a page on Memory Alpha/Beta that basically does this? An index with the crew member names, and links to their individual entries (if applicable)?
