EVA-Trek: Season Three - Episode 3x10 - "Wherever I May Roam":

Stardate 51912.1: While on their way back from shore leave, Shinji, Rei, Asuka, and Kaworu crash land, finding themselves on the run from a squad of Jem’Hadar soldiers who have also arrived on the same planet.

I really enjoyed putting this episode together, which is partially based on the 1957 John Huston film, Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison. It includes a role I wrote for the late David Bowie, whom I always thought would've played a perfect Vorta.

EVA-Trek: Season Three - Episode 3x11 - "For Whom the Bell Tolls":

Stardate 51970.4: The crew of the USS Nerv experiences the high human cost of war when they participate in a major offensive attack against the Dominion in the Chin’toka system in the tense season finale.

Hard to believe we're already at the end of the season! This installment marks fifty-three episodes of EVA-Trek, with another 31 more to go over the series' final two seasons, coming soon!

EVA-Trek Production Update:

The special episode to commemorate Star Trek's 60th anniversary, "The Memory Remains," has gotten a final draft script lock! I'll have plenty of time for spot revisions over the next four months before it drops on Star Trek Day.

Following that, work continues in earnest on pre-production for season four. The first draft of the season premiere is done, and detailed script outlines are complete for episodes 402 and 403. My plan is to get an outline done each week so I can rock on each of the scripts in quick order.

Finally, while I was procrastinating on season four... I actually got an idea for a "special edition" edit for a couple episodes. My plan is to have it ready in time for the fifth anniversary of EVA-Trek's "premiere" next summer. Stay tuned for more!

EVA-Trek Production Update:

Definitely a productive week in the writers room at Firebird Pictures! We made headway on a bunch of stuff, including:

Episode 3x11.5, The Memory Remains, has gotten into pink revision pages, with probably one more pass to go. It'll be a short OVA type episode, but I think it does a good job of not only paying tribute to the original Star Trek, but helping to set up where EVA-Trek will be going in its fourth season.

Speaking of season four, I'll be wrapping up the final outline for episode 4x05 today, so I'm nearly past the halfway point of drafting out the next eleven episodes.

And finally, I completed the first draft of EVA-Trek: You Can (Not) RePilot, the special edition "movie" that will drop next summer on the fifth anniversary of EVA-Trek's premiere. It'll be a revisit of the first two episodes, edited into a combined movie (like the special TNG two-parter blu-rays), and with a heavy rewrite/cleanup.

It's been quite illuminating the past couple weeks to return to those early scripts and realize just how much I've grown as a writer in just the last four years. All told, I think there was maybe three pages (of 130) that didn't get touched or tweaked in some fashion. I'm actually pleased with how those scenes work after this pass, but I don't think I'm gonna pull a George Lucas and make this the only version available of the series' Pilot.

As we begin the month of June, my 60th Star Trek Anniversary series enters the Kelvin Timeline; the series of 3 movies that brought the franchise back to life in a big way.

EVA-Trek Production Update:

We're making steady progress on season four, with the outline for episode 406 on the slate to wrap up today. That leaves just five more episodes to prep before we can finally get rolling on production. The fourth year is certainly shaping up to be the series' "dark hour of the soul," but there's no other way it could've gone in the narrative. I think I'm a little more excited about putting this batch of stories together than the third season because it's really pushing me as a writer. (Although, I still think season two is the best and most solid of the show overall.)

EVA-Trek Production Update:

As mentioned, yesterday marked five years since I drew the very first illustration that melded the characters from Evangelion into Star Trek's 24th century. At the time, I figured that it would be a one- or two-and-done idea, then I'd move on to other things.

Obviously, that isn't what happened.

In all those years later, the idea has blossomed into fifty-three episodes across three seasons, and nearly 200 illustrations, with much more on the way. I've said it before, but creating EVA-Trek has been the best creative decision in my life. I never knew I could be so passionate to tell a story like this, but here we are.

Moving on, I've been cruising along with completing script outlines up through episode 408. Just before starting on 409, I suddenly had an idea for yet another episode to add to season four, which now brings the year up to a healthy 12 episodes! Even with another 20 episodes coming up in season five, I still have plenty of stories left to tell with this cast.

Next month, we move into the Kurtzman era of the franchise with Star Trek: Discovery!

EVA-Trek Production Update:

In the past week, I managed to jump at warp speed on pre-production for season four. I've knocked out the script outlines for episodes 409 and 410 in that time, and I'm nearly done with 411's outline, too. That'll just leave the season finale to go. I may be able to get fully into the scripting stage by Independence Day at this rate!

Somehow in all this... I still need to get started on production sketches for season four. It may be the first season of the series where I'll need to commission work from other artists, depending how how busy I get.

EVA-Trek Production Update:

My prediction was right on the money - I managed to finish the story outline for the season four finale a couple days ago. Production on the rest of the episodes will be gearing up this week and will proceed through the rest of the year. Fun fact: by the end of season four, there will be as many EVA-Trek episodes as there are of Discovery, sixty-five!

EVA-Trek Production Update:

After a short break to rest and recharge my batteries, I've started writing the scripts for Season Four! The season premiere was completed back in March, so I'm charging headlong into episode 402. Amazingly, I'm already 37 pages into the draft, with just the last couple acts left to go... which I think I might get done today. Since most of the story outlines for the season are incredibly detailed, they're making the script stage the most painless part of the process. I might even have some weeks where I can get two episodes done in quick succession.

More to come as production on Season Four continues!

EVA-Trek Production Update:

As I predicted, I completed the first draft for episode 402 last Sunday... but, it's gonna need a bit of work on the A-story before it's ready for prime time. 403 should likewise be done later today, owing to a strong inspiration I pulled from a Robert Wise film. The illustration of Ritsuko and Stamets actually comes from the following episode in the season, which is a story I've been kicking around for the last few seasons. I'm excited to see how this one comes out!
