Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITHIN*

Re: Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITH

In retrospect, the thing that really gives it away as being fake is the person claiming that their sister works for DWM and that's how they got to see it. DWM has a tiny staff and it would be easy to find out who it was and for them to lose their job if it was true.

Speaking of DWM, I'm hearing rumors that BBC didn't renew Panini's license and that a new publisher (not Titan and not Future, someone else) will be handling the official magazine come the fall. The sticking point, according to rumor, was that the BBC wanted a digital format, but Panini wasn't willing to do so.

Fake(Doctor Who) on top of Fake(hobbit)

What the heck was the original screen showing? We need to go deeper....

Hm, and Marcus Hearn has just taken up a freelance editing job at Panini - perhaps a change of team is what it'll take for them to keep the licence?

Oh noes, who'll be Moffat's Arse-Kisser-In Chief now!

The Doctor's name is obviouslyJohn Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt!

There, that's worth 100 pounds (or $154, since I'm a Yank).:rommie:

The story we have been discussing here seems more and more likely to be correct - this trailer gives the game away given what we know:

Still we get a guest appearance from
bessie (well a replica)

Do we know if this alleged top secret media event even took place? Are any other journalists talking about the event? If not, definitely fake. If they are, should be easy enough for them to deny the storyline.

I thought hat, and a look at the DWM masthead would show that women are short on the supply on their editorial team. But then again, the reference to the Doctor Who Magazine could mean Doctor Who Adventures, and there are plenty of women working on that..
However, I still suspect it's a fake.

As for the 'top secret media event': there's been a press screening for all important episodes for a long time (till five years ago I'd have been at it... last on was The Next Doctor). Prior to that they did them for the season starts, but they moved over to also doing the finales rather than sending them out as preview discs to better control access (if someone's got a disc, then can show it to a friend). But these screenings/discs often omit the final scenes (for instance, the Army of Ghosts disc cut just as the Void Sphere opened, without revealing what it contained). From the DWM preview of next week's ep,, that seems to be the case with the final scene of this season (ie, if rumour is correct, the surprise appearance of another Doctor in the last show).

Supposed to be Jenna inserted into "The Five doctor's" episode

And so Clara Oswin leaps from timeline to timeline. Putting right what once went wrong....

Re: Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITH

Where is she intended to be when in her 1980s version?

Yup, well done to the original leaker.

It is funny that this person manages to reveal the whole thing and stays annonymous and then you get those other people who get the occasional little bit of information and play it up for all its worth.

Re: Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITH

So I'm sticking with my theory that the big reveal at the end the name of the Doctor is that his name is Twelve and they work this out because Clara saves a Doctor they don't know.

The encounters aren't supposed to be specific scenes from existing stories. They're "cutting" the Doctors out of past episodes and dropping them into new footage, which sidesteps most of the technical problems you'd have with trying to do it the other way round. (Which was the mani reason I was doubtful of the claims originally.)

I know that, I was more wondering if the background was suppose to in space? The Tardis?

Re: Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITH

I wonder if we'll see John Hurt at the end.

If RTD were behind this, I think the probability would be 100%. The only season that didn't end with a cliffhanger-ish "What? What? What?" situation was the fourth (though RTD did write a scene to lead into "The Next Doctor" and it was filmed, but it was also cut).

Moffat hasn't ended his seasons that way. He's treated his specials as concrete units of their own in the past. I'm not sure why he would change that now.

Though maybe he will this time. Six months of people going, "Who was John Hurt playing?" wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

I don't know, everyone has already figured it out, and John Hurt himself kind of admitted it in an interview. The smart thing for Moffat would be to confirm it anytime now, to avoid the kind of mistake Abrams made keeping Benedict Cumberbatch's role in STID a secret for so long. Now that that it is confirmed who his character is, everyone's attitude is "well duh, why was it kept a secret for so long?" Lesson learned, secrecy doesn't build hype, it kills it.

Re: Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITH

I had a feeling this would have been tacked on regardless

With Moffat it will probably be

"No you see the hurt doctor DOES EXIST.... but in an aborted time line two streets down from the butchers shop"

Re: Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITH

^ Looks like Colin Baker's Doctor in the background in the ever present TARDIS corridor!

Re: Finale discussion thread (spoilerifictitle insided) *SPOILERS WITH

There's no mistaking that rainbow colored getup.

It does look creepy with the 6th doctor walking in the background like some ghost.
