FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Program

Ptrope

Agitator
Admiral
Gather round while I sing you of Wernher von Braun, ...

So many years ago, Tom Lehrer did sing us of Wernher von Braun, the man who was probably the most influential upon the U.S. space program of the 1950s and '60s, who proved you didn't need a V-8 if you had a V2!

aridas sofia challenged us to envision that space program through the eyes of Star Trek's stated history, a history that put us much deeper into space much earlier than our own history recorded. And our entrants proved that it really is rocket science! ;) (I hope these are all the entries - they are at least the ones I got e-mails for, and Trekker4747, since you can enter only one image, I picked the one you seemed to be concentrating on at the end of your WIP thread ...)

Now: 5-4-3-2-1 ... vote! (you may vote for two entries  )

Harry

Klaus

Ptrope

Rattrap

Starscape

Trekker4747

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

it seems that we loves the nukes.

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

Starscape got my vote for being most Trek-like and Rattrap got my vote for evoking Space: 1999. Tough choice, though, and great work all.

Actualy, If I can only have one entry, rather than a series of them, I guess I would prefer the one of the whole ship. (If that is possible.)

I guess i was going more for an entire space program rather than a single ship. (Since any signifigant space program is made of the sum of its parts.)

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

Had to go with Rattrap and Starscape - lots of Gerry Anderson-esque elements in both (H.M.S. Albion looks a lot like SkyDiver when joined!)

Nice work, everyone; sorry about any confusion, Trekker4747 - there was no clear indication of which you might prefer, but I still like that rover .

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

My vote went to Harry. I blanked out and didn't see that the poll had two options. :p

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

Klaus and Ptrope, Nice nods to Tos in both and Klaus you name dropper.

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

Hey, how did Klaus win again? :D

Congratulations, sir! Well done!

Great group of entries again; aridas sofia, thanks for the challenge!

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

What an exciting, down-to-the-wire finish, huh?! Congratulations, Klaus! You did a good job, as did everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the next contest.

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

Can't go wrong with the Syd Mead color scheme. ;)

Re: FINAL POLL - September Challenge: von Braun's Space Prog

ty for the kind words all... what do you think of "Great Moments in Trek History" as a theme? I always try to lean towards ideas which allow the widest possible range of entries, especially those which bridge the 2D/3D artist gap which we get here... I think this has the potential to do that, and also the added bonus of allowing deadly-serious or completely-insane interpretations... do you think that would work?
