Faster than a speeding tachyon! More powerful than a phase inverter! Able to leap tall space elevators in a single bound!
And he smells great, too!
This month, Ptrope took his nose out of his comic book collection just long enough to challenge the forum to comic book heroes! The kicker is that these are heroes that could exist within the everyday universe of Star Trek, not just characters in its fiction - heroes that starship captains read about in their morning briefs, not just when they're looking for a restroom for some 'me time.'
And the folks came through big! So let's flip open those pages, skip the ads for x-ray specs and sea monkeys, and tell us who the winner is of Crisis in Infinite Alpha Quadrants! While you're at it, vote for two - it's a big galaxy!

Buck Rogers

A 24th-century descendant of Tony Stark, in civilian battle armor that is equipped with Micro Phasers; his omni-beam emitter can generate tractor beams; and his flight systems are based on Micro-impulse and Micro-warp drive engines.
Klaus

Praetor

Disgraced Starfleet Ensign Nick Locarno was relegated to rather mundane recon missions as a scout after his Academy actions resulted in the death of a fellow cadet. On a routine scout mission, he discovered Orion pirates raiding a pre-warp planet. Locarno tried to stop them, but crashed on the planet. He received a huge dose of warp radiation poisoning, which made him glow blue. He discovered that the energy he emitted could be channeled through the shard of a dilithium crystal from his shuttle's warp core; this allowed him to shape the energy to his mind's will. He fitted the crystal into his Academy ring and ended up having to use his new-found powers to fight off the Orion pirates to protect the locals, who are at a roughly 20th-century-Earth level and believed him to be some kind of superhero.
After being rescued by Starfleet, it was decided that the best way to contain the cultural contamination and protect the primitive planet is to actually make him a superhero. They equipped him with a proper ring and costume, and sent him back to the planet as 'Transwarp.' He can fly unharmed through almost any environment by shrouding himself in a subspace field, travel at warp 9+ speeds on his own - faster than any starship speed record - as well as make energy constructs with the will of his mind. His one weakness is that he must recharge himself from a warp core every 24 hrs.
