:) There have been some major updates at startrekmovie.com

Why would it be anything but a Constitution Class? How is this a revelation?

I'm too bored to get into too much detail now, lets say there was some debate on the matter around here.
About the new E being a redesign, a prototype, that maybe they would make it an Enterprise class, where is the uss Constitution etc etc etc

So having official, final word on the matter is a revelation of some kind....

What exactly do you think... Held In Beta Testing Ward 956 - means ???

It doesn't make much sense.. it seems like an incomplete thought...

...perhaps that is where the ship is when this movie starts...???

Also noticed She's got a lot more Running Lights on the lower half of the Primary Hull.

And just to muddy things up a bit more:
Apparently the starship motorcycle Kirk watches under construction is never specifically shown or referred to as the Enterprise
so that nugget of canonista might be fudgibly preserved.

Why a maximum of Warp 8? The TOS Enterprise reached Warp 9 under it's own power.
If I remember correctly, Connies had a maximum normal speed of Warp 6 and a military speed of Warp 8 in the FASA games.

I guess we can chalk achieving Warp 9 up to Scotty's excellent engineering, and the general engineering tendency to have a fudge factor.

Yeah, the higher warp speeds were always exceptions to the norm, achieved in extraordinary circumstances.

...ahhh... the endless bickering over minutiae begins... don't ya just luv it?! :alienblush:

Thanks SalvorHardin, for the dossier pictures! The downloads available do not have the dossier information printed on them. I really wanted the ones you posted.

But it's not said on screen, so -- . ;)

The images look good. Thank you for providing additional enlarged screepcaps as well. I always have a heck of a time accessing the startrekmovie.com site to view the Dossiers.

That was my first thought, too.

I admit, I am not a "starship class" bitch like the little whining fanboys who rock themselves to sleep, sucking their thumbs in the corner and muttering the same sentence over and over because a particular ship is not called the right class(I still, for the LOVE OF GOD do not know what the Akiraprise thing was all about - all I know about Akira was it was some epic Jap anime thing from the 60's or something and WHY a starship would be named that class is beyond me - why not call a new class of ship The Astro Boy Class USS ......" ), but I DID expect it to be a Constitution class.

Anything else would have been revision for the sake of change and nothing else.

In the new info section with the bit about designing the bridge, it is mentioned that the viewscreen was reimagined into a physical window. Debate over. Har.

Wow!

I am late to the party but I guess there have been some seriously bitchy arguments here about certain design elements for the new Enterprise?

Many of the details appearing in the various dossiers are simply restating things previously stated in TOS episodes, and are not intended as revelations of any kind. I think this is one such, though (as was said) there have been those who maintained (sometimes quite stridently) that the new movie's version of Enterprise had to be something else -- that it couldn't possibly be Constitution-class.

They may continue to so maintain - who knows?
