Filming order!

Falconer

Commander
Red Shirt
Last year I learned that Space Seed was filmed before A Taste of Armageddon. Today I learned that Obsession was filmed before The Gamesters of Triskelion! What!

Space Seed
Production #24
filmed 15 – 22 December 1966

A Taste of Armageddon
Production #23
filmed 27 – 4 January 1967

* * *

Obsession
Production #47
filmed 9 – 16 October 1967

Gamesters of Triskelion
Production #46
filmed 17 – 24 October 1967

Does anyone know why they are misnumbered in production order?
Because they're not missed numbered? My point? Filming is only one aspect of the production. There's many other aspects being performed in parallel. The production number probably indicates when certain things started and when they were started. Just because filming occurred much later in the process; It doesn't mean they're missed numbered.

“Coon knew he would have to do a rewrite of his own, but was in the middle of giving ‘Space Seed’ a makeover with his various drafts coming in on December 7 and 9, and the morning of the 12th. As Coon put that script to bed, he finally had time to read the latest memo from Justman, telling him that it would take eight to nine days to film ‘A Taste of Armageddon’ based on the most recent draft by Steven Carabatsos. And production was supposed to begin in just three days. A quick decision was made to push ‘Armageddon’ back in the production schedule and place ‘Space Seed’ in front of it.” —These are the Voyages: TOS, Season One, p. 520

“‘Gamesters of Triskelion,’ planned to film first, was assigned an earlier production number. But the rewriting of ‘Obsession’ went quicker, and the sets for this episode were less challenging than those for ‘Gamesters.’ It also required less casting. Because of this, the two episodes flipped spots in the production schedule, even though their production numbers did not change.” —These are the Voyages: TOS, Season Two, p. 421

I was thinking of the certain scenes being refilmed or needing additional work rather than changes in schedule!

I wouldn't take ANYTHING from Marc 'Cash' Cushman's books as accurate. The guy doesn't really know how to properly research; and often presents fan folklore as fact (and has been called on it many times since his garbage was published).

Cushman also tends to post assumption as fact, as was evidenced as far back at Vol. 1 of his self-published series.
