Fill a role with a TOS era actor

There were about three dozen cases where an actor who had previously appeared on the series was used again in a completely different role. So as a companion piece to the Thread about actors who could have appeared on Star Trek how about taking a role that was filled by a reused actor and putting in another actor from that era

I forgot to give my choices. Burgess Meredith would have been perfect for mr. Atoz replacing Ian Wolfe. And it would have been a nice book end if you will to his role in time enough at last on the Twilight Zone
He also would have been good replacing actor John lormer in the role of Tamar in Return of the archons or as the old man in for the world is hollow and I have touched the sky. Although those last two roles might have been too small for him to take

with Bill Cosby?

I would have bet that nobody was going to actually bring up Bill Cosby and I guess I would have lost. But I was talking about replacing actors who are being reused with actors who had never appeared on Star Trek. The actor who played the bartender had only one appearance on Star Trek.

So, are we talking about using actors who already appeared in Trek, or actors who did not appear in Trek at all for recurring roles? I'm confused.

Using actors who never appeared in Star Trek to replace actors who did multiple roles.
So replace any actor in their second third or fourth role on the series with a vintage actor from that era that never appeared.
Of course it helps to know which actors appeared multiple times but most of you guys do know which actors appeared more than once and which was their first appearance vs their later appearances

My choices were based on whether the actors in question were available for guest starring roles in episodic television at the time the series was produced. I didn't really want to get into a wish list of recasting the show and having big names filling what are for the most part small roles. Having recently re-watch the entire wild wild west series which ran from 65 to 69 I got a pretty good feel for actors that were willing to do guest starring roles at the exact time Star Trek was on the air.

Well Diana Rigg was just getting her start in the 60s. The big hurdle (and what makes it wishing) is having her cross the Pond for the role.

Henry Darrow would have made a great Stoon! Luckily he at least played a Vulcan on the Next Generation. I think Henry Silva would have made a good Stonn as well.

It certainly would have redefined the role!

I think Bill Theiss would've hated it though.
I recall reading somewhere that he complained Nichelle Nichols was too Buxom to design costumes for!
