Field of Fire 7x13

Lieutenant

Star Trek DS9 - 7x13 - Field of Fire

Just saw it. awesome to see projectile weapons in the ST universe.

Did i hear Ezri say the bolian had a wife and husband?

bolians are bi? :guffaw:

I'm not sure why you find bisexuality so hilarious, but Ezri called him a co-husband, which tends to mean he was married to a woman who was also married to at least one other person. It doesn't tell us anything of that Bolian's sexual practices, he might be bisexual but a bigamous marriage doesn't automatically mean everyone is having sex with everyone else, or that all Bolians are bi

But they say Bolian internal chemistry is acidic, so be careful!

The weapon wasn't just a projectile weapon, it has a MICROTRANSPORTER too! A MICRO transporter! So they make this projectile weapon sound even better than a "regular" directed energy weapon. But if it's designed to work in energy-damped environments, would the transporter still work?

And LOL at Odo reading "20th century crime novels." It took me a few seconds to realize he even knew what powder burns were?!

^ I got the impression that the Vulcan added the micro-transporter to the design rather than it being part of the original design.

i thought all bolians married both a male and female. i took it the wrong way. :bolian:

I dont see why projectile weapons arnt used more. they have flaws compaired to energy based weapons but they are also, in my opinion... deadlier with the right shooter.

Use them against borg, shoot, transport past borg shields. boom. headshot. :borg:

This is completely random, I know--but I actually have a picture in my mind of an Ezri Dax "gunbarrel sequence", a la James Bond, based on this ep.

The circle is actually the Vulcan's targeting scanner--and when Ezri shoots, green blood comes down....

I don't see how the gun worked at all. In every instance I can think of, the transporters canceled the inertia of what was transported.

but isnt that an add on to the weapon rather than standard, it took obrien to work out how he did it... so in a energy damped area the weapon would be sound.

when archer is beamed in Broken Bow he still moves for a second after he materialises...before stopping himself

I think the inertia during transport is a big continuity question. It works whenever the plot demands it.

But projectile weapons would be great against the Borg:
ME: Adapt THIS. *fires Tommy gun*

^

Borg: Err...We have "Force Fields" All around our body, so okay...
You: Oh...err..ah...um...but...well...hey...so a guy walks into a bar and...ah shoot...

If I'm remembering correctly, the actual term used was "wife and co-husband." For all we know, that could mean anything. Maybe Bolian women are permitted more than one spouse? Or do you think Denobulans are bi because each man has three wives and each woman has three husbands?

That's how I recall it too. The gun itself was designed to work in energy damped environments. The micro transporter was not part of the original design, but added by the Vulcan.

Not necessarily. The inertia might have been canceled, but Archer was still in running position and mindset. So the moment he materialised his brain would still be sending "RUN" impulses to his muscles at least for a split second until he realizes he is out of danger and stops.

But how did Ezri get ahold of the recently-redesigned weapon then? Did the Vulcan just leave his newly designed weapon in the system for anyone to check recent contributors? That's a tip-off right there I would think. A weapon designed by intel for special tactical situations is modified.

^You might want to re-watch the ep. O'Brien gets a hunch, and assembles a redesigned weapon on his own. Ezri used that one.
