Come now. We all know Spock was behind the knoll. Retconning it to be Klingons just plays to the modern anti-Vulcan agenda.
This is true. It came straight from Gene Roddenberry's typewriter! Paramount rejected it back in 1976 because he was getting too close to The Truth.Come now. We all know Spock was behind the knoll. Retconning it to be Klingons just plays to the modern anti-Vulcan agenda.
Poor Edith was just the start!Come now. We all know Spock was behind the knoll. Retconning it to be Klingons just plays to the modern anti-Vulcan agenda.
Oh no, did your penis drop off?The all-male away mission ends in a humiliating defeat:
I think that you're right about it. The one who have problem with this show is a woman audience.
As a male, it is okay to watch a majority of female casts. As men prefer to watch women, specially when they're attractive in a show.
We can use Baywatch as example. Male audience will prefer to see the sexy, beautiful women in the show. I think that they will ignore the male casts in the show. Except if they prefer fellow man in sexual preference.
But in Twilight, female audience will prefer to watch those handsome, sexy, cool vampires and warewolf. They don't care about the main cast, which is a female character.
The problem is, what Discovery represent is not a pure entertainment, but more of the current American political correctness view.
There is definitely lack of hot guys in Discovery that a female audience to enjoy.
There are people who can't enjoy Discovery just because they don't agree with the political view that Discovery represent.

Clearly, the show lacks in shirtless scenes. The stars of Star Trek: Discovery:

Say what you will about Star Trek: Discovery, but this is not a show that lacks for hunky men!
Edited to add:
Also, this should go without saying, but cisgender heterosexual women aren't the only people who experience sexual attraction to men.
Clearly, the show lacks in shirtless scenes.
we were denied the chance to see Linus molting.I'm pretty sure Oded Fehr and Anthony Rapp are the only ones who haven't been shirtless at some point on DIS...!
They need more. Have them putter around in tank tops or less on the regular while the women are solving the problem of the week. TOS worked brilliantly with that formula.I'm pretty sure Oded Fehr and Anthony Rapp are the only ones who haven't been shirtless at some point on DIS...!
I think what they are complaining about is a lack of alpha male type of male characters.
You could have a show with 5 males characters on it but if none of them has that kind of macho swagger
I think what they are complaining about is a lack of alpha male type of male characters. You could have a show with 5 males characters on it but if none of them has that kind of macho swagger like say Kirk did or Riker or even Picard then they don't count as the type of male characters they want to see. One thing critics point out is the many strong female characters they like but in almost all those cases the said show or tv movie almost always had a male character who fits into this category as well.
Kira had Sisko, Sarah Connor had Arnold and Reese in the first movie. Wonder Woman had Chris Pine. Even the beloved Cara Dunne had Mando as a fellow strong character equal. Combine that with conservative values always being depicted as being the values of the bad guys and that is what pisses them off. They miss the days when being a man in the movies would be Clint Eastwood or Burt Reynolds or John McClain. They no longer see any of their values represented in any form and so they get pissed.
By what definition of the term are Lorca, Pike, Tyler, Vance, Stamets, Culber, Spock, and Book not "alpha male types?" All of them demonstrate strong leadership skills and extreme bravery.
How do they not have "macho swagger?" They're all extremely confident.
Let's be real. Stamets and Culber will not count for that crowd and you know why.
Well, if they were honest about their anger that would help. Honesty goes a long way towards understanding.hey no longer see any of their values represented in any form and so they get pissed.
The thing about these people is that they pretty much complain about any franchise at this point. Their thing seems to be complaining about scifi/fantasy/comic book franchises where women and/or people of color are given a greater role than they would have generally been given in the past. Saw complaints about Foundation daring to have women characters - because the book written in the early 1950s didn't have a woman in it so it's "woke" that the show had Women. Complaints about Captain Marvel, Complaints about Star Wars (the actress who plays Cara Dunne is very conservative so that was probably ok for them haha), complaints about Doctor Who, complaints about the upcoming Lord of The Rings show, and on and on. They are so involved in right wing politics that they now see "everything" as an attack on their identity. Or some of them are just so full of anger and just let it out online/youtube. They are like the "hollywood review" version of Tucker Carlson.

What about Vance?Let's be real. Stamets and Culber will not count for that crowd and you know why. Lorca was a villain - which they use to prove their point, Tyler and Book are associated with Burnham so they don't count (and book was "wrong" in what he did this season, making the man the villain). Aliens don't count. That leaves Pike.
He keeps letting Burnham get away with doing questionable actions behind his back because they bring him results, so obviously he's just yet another emasculated malewife fawning over her radiant greatness. What about Vance?
