Feminism in Star Trek Discovery

Honestly, even if the claims of "gender imbalance" were true and the show really did have something like five female characters per every one male character, so what? I can not imagine why any man would feel bothered let alone threatened by the presence of so many female characters in a TV show. I'm not going to claim to be a champion of female representation or anything like that, I will flat out admit that I'm okay seeing more women on TV entirely because as a straight male I want to watch good looking women on my TV shows.

Now, sure, many of you likely read that last sentence and are now branding me a male pig, and that's a perfectly legitimate opinion to hold. But hey, I'd rather be labeled a male pig than an incel any day of the week, and you can quote me on that.

Besides, it's not like watching a female dominated show is going to give you cooties or anything.

I think that you're right about it. The one who have problem with this show is a woman audience. As a male, it is okay to watch a majority of female casts. As men prefer to watch women, specially when they're attractive in a show.

We can use Baywatch as example. Male audience will prefer to see the sexy, beautiful women in the show. I think that they will ignore the male casts in the show. Except if they prefer fellow man in sexual preference. But in Twilight, female audience will prefer to watch those handsome, sexy, cool vampires and warewolf. They don't care about the main cast, which is a female character.

The problem is, what Discovery represent is not a pure entertainment, but more of the current American political correctness view. People who don't agree with that view won't be able to enjoy the show. I think OP is right about this matter. Well, maybe she prefers more "purely" entertainment show rather than a political correctness show. There is definitely lack of hot guys in Discovery that a female audience to enjoy.

Well, something that is engulfed with political view will never able to satisfy all people. I bet that non of you will enjoy Chinese propaganda war shows. Simply because you don't agree with their political view. Then it is the same. There are people who can't enjoy Discovery just because they don't agree with the political view that Discovery represent.

Political view. Equality is political? It's only "political" because people against it have made it that way.

Otherwise, if not that, then what does DSC espouse that's on Bernie Sanders' platform, or Joe Biden's, or AOC's? Socialism? No money? It's been that way for decades.

The show is clearly told from a liberal perspective. You don't see many episodes talking the dangers of CRT or Abortion being bad or anything like that. This is no different from past Trek. Only difference is this show gets to play into it's politics more because they are not going for a broad mainstream audience like those shows did and like most shows did before the Golden Age of tv. It's target audience is young people more than the Johnson family in Peoria Illinois.

Which means things are less subtle which in turn instantly gets ride of any conservative audience and puts moderates in a position of liking it or disliking it on how well they make the show. Far left will naturally love it for being able to see their politics so outwardly embraced in the text and not just subtext. If you want to do something about abortion for example you can have a character have one instead of doing something like Riker killing his clone.

I don't see anything wrong in just saying this show isn't made for everyone. If you don't like it then that is fine. It's even okay to complain because I can see being upset that if you don't fit in the right demographic meaning this show doesn't care about you like past Trek did. Just don't get petty and mean while complaining. If you look around you will find tv shows out their you will like even if you don't like this one.

The Agenda for Joe Biden's 2024 Campaign will be hidden within secret messages in Discovery Season 5. You'll have to take every 20th and 24th line of dialogue per episode to piece together his platform. All of which he ran through The Squad for approval.

Doomcock says Joe Manchin is our only hope to block the platform, since his plan to have DSC, sorry I mean STD, cancelled after its fourth season failed.

I'm afraid the writing isn't good enough to secretly encode any hidden Joe BIden messages. Best you could expect is them getting some notes from CBS who has a bunch of suits scanning Twitter and fan sites to see what is hip and cool in 2024 and maybe the show can put some of that in the episodes.
