Feline Follies

As if there's a choice... ;)

I had to go to Herat, Afghanistan earlier this week. I saw three strays there. One ran past me and I called to it and it came over and let me pet it. You could tell he was well fed and since he was friendly to people I believe the soldiers there were taking care of him in exchange for him keeping the mice population down. :)

Made me miss my two cats so much. I cannot wait to get home!

Currently at the vet with Banshee. She has a severe uterus infection, and she has a lot of work ahead of her. Need some prayers and good thoughts sent this direction! :(

Oh, poor little kitty! I hope the infection clears and she recovers quickly! Sending positive thoughts her way.

Update on Banshee: Her uterus wasn't as bad as they thought, but she does have a severe urinary tract infection that goes up to the kidneys, plus she was dehydrated and her bowels were plugged up. They spayed her (needed anyway), and now have her on IV fluids and antibiotics. She's doing *much* better today, and acting her normal self again. Obviously we'll need to do a lot better at keeping her clean with the diapers, but it looks like she'll be home tomorrow.

Don't be too hard on yourself about the diaper thing. You are doing far more than most others would do. I'm glad Banshee is doing better!

I hope she keeps improving. She's a tough little cat.

After my male got a UTI, I started feeding him water with a plastic syringe. He simply won't drink enough on his own and I don't want a repeat of the infection.

3 times a day, every day, he gets "watered". He's used to it now, but still obviously doesn't like it (y'know...being a cat & all).

Does your cat like drinking from the tap? My wife doesn't like it too much but I always let my cats drink from the tap.

I've heard too many stories of cats getting urinary tract infections because they don't drink enough water so I want them to take in as much water as possible. A running tap seems to be their preferred method so I let them have it whenever they want it.
