Feline Follies

No camera, so no pix, but late Thursday night (around midnight) a friend came by for a few minutes and I had the door open. I went over to the friend's apartment in the complex (yes, I closed the door).

When I got back home, my cat was near the computer, looking at another cat in the room! It appeared to be a 2 or 3 month kitten, who was huddled against a stuffed toy that I sometimes sprinkle catnip on.

What surprised me was they were just staring, trying to figure each other out. My Cleo wasn't growling or bristling or anything. But to be safe, I put her in the bathroom and then carried the kitten out.

Cleo spent the next hour near that spot, probably checking the scent. She didn't seem to relax about it until a few hours later when she might have forgotten about it.
It seems to me that somebody was looking to adopt a new human.

Clearly this blanket was placed on the coffee table for Gimli's personal use.

My cat Cleo's getting pushy when she wants her treats. Usually she just sits on a chair next to me trying to use her infinite mind powers and meowing, or bringing her face up to mine for ten minutes. This time though, she took more aggressive action and put her paw onto my arm, which she'd not done before.

"Spot, I will kill you." :D

Remember this pic? The fish (Fred) happened to be a gift from a former student to my wife. She came home yesterday and found the vase on the floor, and Fred's head outside one of the bathrooms! Banshee was in her cage, and the two older cats have never even been up on the mantle, and the dog was penned in the kitchen, whereas Phantom has been up there frequently, chewing on the leaves. So guess who my wife found with a satisfied look?
Our Phantom, in a rare calm moment. Yeah, he's not fooling anyone, especially the fish!

I forgot to mention, we also have a 10 gallon aquarium, and two fish from that have gone missing without a trace!

Not a picture but a short video. This is Gimli's favourite way to get a drink of water.

That was cute! I've never seen a cat let the water hit his cheek first then drink the run off. Any of my tap drinkers were very careful to never get their faces wet.

Gimli rocks!

I got a real kick out of it the first time I saw him do it. Still, he's got nothing on this cat:

My sister's cat does the same thing, only she sits in the sink, directly under the water. She lets the water run off her head and then sticks her tongue out when she wants to drink.

She's definitely a "special" kitty.

Once upon a time, we believed the world was flat and we were the center of the universe.

Before youtube we actually believed cats didn't like getting wet.
