Don't know if this new behavior is something I should be concerned about or not. Sometimes when I'm working my cat will sit near me for a couple hours, but then eventually leave. Tonight he's been sitting near me but way past his usual time, when he should be asleep in his bed or on a couch.

I wouldn't worry. As long as he otherwise seems like his normal self, staying up late one night isn't a cause for concern.
