My cat uses the litter box just fine, but started peeing on the wall instead of into the litter, meaning no covering up and a big urine smell. Anything I can do to correct this? Technically he's not doing anything wrong like peeing outside the litter box.

How often are you changing the litter? Could be he doesn't like dirty litter. Or could be a something physical like a sore hip. Or he's ticked off at you and this is his protest.

My boy Junior has always been a "high flyer." He stands up at normal height to pee--always has. We bought a high walled litter box, but it didn't come with a proper lid , so we bought a large plastic bin. We cut a big hole in it-- used hubby's soldering iron and an box cutter to cut an entrance and put the smaller box in it. Kept any spill-over neatly contained.

Maybe he's doing it because it's hot? I dunno.
