Feline Follies

There's a crack in the camera lens of my phone--hubby forgot to tell me about it. Grrr. At least it works. But it makes a blurry spot--you can see it on the top of the picture.

Still, a pretty good shot. Junior put his face right up to the phone and then decided to lie down, so I took a picture.

"So, I understand this right, this is your phone now? Not the man's anymore? Why? What's wrong with it? I better take a closer look at it."

So a friend was telling me about his rascal, devious cat named Sammy. He loves to get up on the counter when his owner isn't looking.

Sammy gets caught in the act, so my friend scolds him and says to get off the counter (in the right tone, of course).

The cat obliges, then turns around and does this:

It's in German, but it is essentially about the hard life of a mother cat. The kittens are from two cats, one of them absent. The other is caring for all the kittens..... Cuteness...

An alien from another planet might say "It is a mystery how the adult cat willingly sacrifices itself so that the little ones may consume it." ;)
It is amazing how she's able to handle the needs of so many kittens. Does anyone here know the back story, if it's a temporary situation or if the other mother cat died?

I just rewatched the video. The other cat can be seen in the other corner, but only for a very short time. She wasn't absent for too long. On the other hand: adoptions might not be unheard of.

I was also thinking, why the owners put the 2 cats and their litters together. I imagine they had them separate at first, but that when one mother would start feeding her brood, the other kittens would clamor over to get in on the feeding action. Too difficult to keep them apart, since mothers weren't always ready to feed at the same time. So they just combined them. Seems plausible?

Because I'm a crazy cat lady with WAAAY too much time on her hands, here's another picture of Junior:

Just took this a few minutes ago. I like that you can see his whiskers are both black and white. I hate the camera in my phone, though. You can see the blurry line at the top of his head--where the crack goes through the lens.
