Feline Follies

I've always liked that name, but he's a guy. And aggressive. Big ballbag hanging down. I've got the feeling that he's well used to being 'King Tom' around here for years.

I've usually gotta scan the yard (especially at night) and tell him to get lost before I let the terriers out. Not so much for his sake but for theirs. He could easily climb the fence, one of the many trees, the garden wall, atop a vehicle, or just RUN, but instead he holds the yard as best he can, jumping around like a ninja at the terriers and screeching like a madman. The dogs don't give an inch, either. They flip out and go into pack mode. It's a friggin mess I like to avoid.
I knew a cat like that. Our neighbour who had been in a motorcycle accident when he was 19 suffered some intellectual injury and was basically looked after by his Mum, until she became too old and was in a Home. John had this cat called Cat. A HUGE cat and a little wild. When John went away for a month he left the cat a bowl of dried food and some water. Worried me sick. I just committed to going over next door twice a day and feeding Cat, who basically liked me but for no reason would attack!! I had a scratch mark on my leg for almost a year after a Cat attack.

That cat wouldn't happen to be in the habit of destroying the next door's beagle's doghouse, would he?

Next time try littering the bed with catnip.

Then he'll never get the cat outta there.

When I were a lad, the neighbors had a large brown male tiger stripe cat that spent a lot of time outside. His name was Killer, and he really lived up to that name. I got scratched a few times. A mean SOB.

Junior has a habit of sticking his front legs straight out when he's feeling very relaxed or happy.

Our Ginger-Tom, Watson, wanted to snuggle the other day. Yeah, this is the one that hid in the basement for over a week when we first brought them home. I noticed something while I was petting him, and I don't recall ever seeing it before on any other cat.

He has eyelashes.

He has a line of fine but stiff hairs that stand straight out right all along the edge of his top eyelid. The rest of his fur lays flat on his forehead. The hairs in the lashes look different from his normal fur.

I tried to get a photo, but he won't cooperate, and the lashes don't show up in the one photo I was able to take. I looked at the other two cats. One has lashes, or just a tuft of longer fur, that covers about a third of the eyelid to the outside corner. The other doesn't seem to have any.

Per George Carlin, what cats don't have are eyebrows. "They just have shit sticking out of their forehead".

My late girl had whisker like hairs on the back of her front legs. Cats are weird.

These aren't whiskers. And all my cats, as I recall, have had a few whiskers just above the dew-claw.

Yeah no, I know you were talking about eyelashes. I was making a funny....or trying to anyway.

The leg whiskers on mine was the first cat I'd ever seen with them.

My wife just showed me some photos and video someone took of a cougar that got into this lady's house and took a six-hour nap behind the sofa.

Don't know how I missed this thread. I love cats! I have to post this even though you guys may have seen it. It's soo funny. I'll have to see if I can find some good pics of my cats.

First here is a poster I made a long time ago with a message near and dear to my heart. All these cat pictures within are Rescues.

So I have a Bengal furbaby. His name is Nikki
Requisite kitten pics as he aged. I don't have one of him as he is now, I need to see if I can get one. He's 12 now and is 20lbs of pure muscle. He acts more like a dog than a cat. Has to be in the middle of everything going on. Likes water, etc.

Thank you, he's an amazing cat! He's so spoiled, he has the humans trained very well. He has to either drink out of the sink or a clean water fountain bowl for cats. He's also really personable which is unusual for a cat. If anyone comes over or multiple someones he doesn't run and hide, he goes around and says hi to everyone.

This was Katie. She was a kitten I rescued when I was in college and working as a waitress. There were dumpster kitties out back and one of them had kittens. I took this littler girl home. She found this tarantula fascinating. We try not to let the outside cats bother these guys because they actually eat more dangerous spiders for dinner.

That's a pretty cool photo. I learned a new term for flies this week from @Scribble - 'sky raisins'. Just trying to think what one could call a ruddy big spider!

Thanks. Yes that fellow was about the size of my hand. Probably one of the bigger ones I've seen before.
