Feline Follies

I can't really explain what my cat is going through right now, but when he's not doing it he seems fine. It's almost like he's simulating vomiting or trying to cough out a fur ball but can't. He opens his mouth really wide and sort of pushes his two front paws forward in the air. Doesn't make a sound when doing it. Should I be concerned?

Odd. Never had a cat do that. Usually when any of my cats made that motion, they also made a gagging noise, as they were about to puke up a hairball or food.

He might have something stuck. It's probably worth a vet visit.

I hate to mention it, but is it possible he has a growth of some kind in his throat? In any case, I agree with @Commander Troi -- it's worth a trip to the vet. Wishing you and your cat the best!
