Is there such a thing as a place that recycles old cat trees? I tried looking around but couldn't find anything. Junk removal wants like $80 to haul it away and there's no way I'll pay that much, so I think I'll just throw it away piece by piece week by week.

Depending on what your cat tree was made of, most or part of it can probably be broken down and recycled.
