Our cat is 14 and she is having a hard time (at times) with jumping up on her shelves. So my husband is trying to make it easier for her by extending one of the shelves. He also put a step for her to have as well. But she does not seem to get that the longer shelf is there for her to land on. She just ignores it and jumps over it. We tried putting catnip on it and even putting her on it. But still she does not use it. Any ideas we could try?? We are worried about her.
When we put the stairs up to the bed for our aging cat, We started with them where it was in the door and boom, stairs. Once he started using them we moved them to a better place for people. To that end observe how she gets up there. Make that route easier. Once she gets the idea of an assist you can start moving the assist. But yea, old cats gonna habit.

If you have an older car with big fan blades—always tap the hood before you crank it during cold weather…just in case. a more pleasant surprise https://www.reddit.com/r/StartledCats/comments/vvakbl/startled_in_slo_mo/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Catswithjo...ficially_a_cat_of_science_with_an_additional/
