We noticed our cat Buddy had lost weight. He was already overdue for his annual visit, so I made an appointment. Friday morning, I happened to notice him walk in and out of the litterbox several times without using it, so I called to see if I could get him in earlier. They said it could be serious and they no longer have night & weekend staff (we're now looking for a new vet). I ended up taking him to the emergency vet - he was very constipated. He ended up staying overnight, getting fluids, enemas, and an ultrasound. I brought him home yesterday. We have an appointment tomorrow with an internal medicine vet to get a full diagnosis. It's probably IBS, which is manageable, but he's around 14, so better not to guess. He's sequestered in the bedroom right now and even needier than normal. :)

I'd appreciate whatever thoughts and prayers you choose to send our way. I'm a mess.

Hoping for the best. If you need to "water" the cat, to get him more hydrated, those dental syringes work well. Mine wouldn't drink enough water to keep him from having UT trouble, so I had to do that for years.

I’m a cat wonder myself and I can’t imagine how messed up I’d feel if my little girl was in a bad way.

Best thoughts to you and yes, I bought a cat fountain last year and keep it away from food and she really does drink like a fish now.

Catfish?

We use a fountain as well. Finnegan still drinks out of dirty dishes in the sink. Sigh, you can take the cat off the street, but getting the street out of the cat.

Good luck, I hope everything turns out OK.

Poor Buddy kitty! I hope he gets better quickly and is back to his old self very soon.
