Feds, Klingons, and Monsters, Oh my!

Hi guys, long time no see. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still alive and making Star Fleet Universe stuff. I have a few new things to post in here.

First up, the Federation Prometheus-class. This ship was designed during the General War as a cheaper and more combat-capable alternative to the standard Fed CA's. The rear hull was reduced in size, lightening the ship and increasing its combat speeds. The warp engine pylons were lowered and strengthened, increasing the ship's maneuverability and clearing the firing arcs of the left and right phaser banks. The final result proved to be very successful and Star Fleet ordered several of them over the course of the war.

Next is the Federation battle frigate. As the General War dragged on, it became apparent to Star Fleet that the old Burke-class frigates were woefully inadequate for the large-scale fleet encounters the war had created. This ship was one of the many designs competing for the contract of the new standard small warship of Star Fleet. It ended up losing out to the Aidid-class war destroyer, but Star Fleet still ordered a squadron of battle frigates as compensation to the designers.

This is the Klingon C7 heavy battlecruiser. Designed to be the ultimate in Klingon cruisers, it pushed the the D7 hull, on which it was based, to the absolute limit of what its frame could handle. The C7 proved to be one of the most successful ships in the Klingon fleet, and over the years many of them were refitted into a variety of variants, such as carriers, gunboat tenders, and stasis field generator platforms.

The last thing I'm adding on here today is a space "monster", the Igneous machine. Igneous machines have been encountered by all empires, and are highly dangerous. From what Star Fleet scientists can tell, Igneous are formed from normal, inert asteroids. Just how this happens is not understood, although it is speculated that they are based on some type of metallo-organic virus. They are undetectable until they have formed and started moving towards their target: almost always an inhabited and technologically developed planet. Once at their destination, they dive through the crust, destroying the planet and themselves. Communication with Igneous machines has been attempted, but has never gotten any kind of response. While Igneous machines aren't very smart(their behaviour always consists of flying at their target in a straight line, at a regular speed, firing mindlessly at any pursuers), they are extremely large and difficult to stop, and possess the unnerving capability to copy any weapon system fired at them and firing it right back.

Nice modeling and renders! I like the compact design of that Marko Ramius class.

The Igneous machine, I assume that's another SFU design? The concept is very interesting, and the background on it and its shape leads me to think that it might be a Tholian designed weapon.

Great to see you back here, Icy!

Although, while the ships shown above look great, there might be a certain other pair of factions that I'll be even more excited to see more of...

Thanks for the comments guys. :)

Iggy is indeed a SFU creation(pretty much everything I make is). And while the Tholians might feel a certain affinity towards a gigantic, powerful, molten, rock-based planet destroying organism, they too have had to fight them off to protect their valuable colonies, and have been equally unsuccessful in their attempts to study them. If the Igneous is an artificial creation, it predates any current form of recorded history(it is theorized that the asteroid belt of the Sol system might have been the work of an Igneous machine in eons past).

I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but that C7 does look explosively more powerful then the D7... Such little changes make such a difference...

Thanks everyone for sharing your opinions. Another little update:

What do you guys think? :)

That Last drawing takes me back to those days when I played SFB with my Friends :techman: I piloted the FEDS Keith the Klingons and Jean marc the Romulans. Those were good days :) Thanks for the fond memories

I agree with sojourner here, the ship textures are amazing! Great work there.

The frigate I'm not so sure of, though, just because having nacelles so close to the ship feels 'off' to me, especially in the Original Series. Perhaps having an aft-facing boom from the saucer, and the 3 nacelles going off the boom?

awesome work. i think i would dearly love to have the panorama large enough to use as a desktop wallpaper. :bolian:

actually, lots of your work would make excellent desktop wallpaper. with SFU logos, and a URL. as promotional freebies, you know.

to save others the trouble, all designs are constrained by pre-existing physical models. detailing is enhanced where possible, minimum awesome content guaranteed at 200% baseline.
