What kind of equipment is this? The screen of a desk panel or something like that?

BTW, where's your animated avatar? I loved the little vulcan! :bolian:

You want me to change? Ok.
Why would I want you to change?

Edit: Oh, now I see! The little Vulcan(ian) is back! But I hope you didn't change it just because of me.

Nitpicking:

Are those phase rifles? I don't think the MACO weapons were ever called such. And they tended to fire small bolts of light similar to the plasma weapons of "Broken Bow" and like the bigger, older, clumsier rifles used by the Enterprise security folks. In contrast, some of those older rifles had "overbarrels" that emitted phase beams, while the main barrel retained the MACO-like lightball function...Broadside!

I wouldn't wonder a bit if the MACO preference was for an older and more reliable type of weapon, rather than the finicky new phase thing.

You wanna know how big a geek I am? I can name the scene that picture of Uhura is from. I believe it's from TUC, when she's shaking her head after Valeris tries to correct Kirk about thrusters only in spacedock.

I love how, in that picture, all three actors aim their weapons in completely different directions, yet the beams all travel straight-ahead. Thank God for 22nd century computer-assisted targeting!

Really? Is it not from the part in TUC where Enterprise is "ordered to report back on the double"?

Umm, I actually think both Reed and his left wingman are doing a pretty good impression of taking aim (basically everybody shoots the phase pistol that way, with the "main axis" slanted up but with the curved top surface front end horizontal). It's the guy with the scope that apparently doesn't know how to use the prop. Shouldn't these extras be given some sort of a briefing if taking aim (and then dropping dead) is what they do for a living?

It would be fun to redraw the beams in a couple of episodes and see what these guys and gals would really hit!

Sure, you say that the phase pistols are supposed to be aimed up, but really, they're being mis-aimed, just like the TNG v2 phaser. Actors just seem to fire them into the air, leading to the redesign after TNG that had the handle curved and immediately improved aim. :)

That would need a whole other thread, but it would be good fun! Here's a start (I am no artist):

Malcolm: "No fair, stop moving!"
Johnson: "It's a Borg sir, they don't move very fast"
Malcolm: "Fine, smart-arse, you try!"

To get the topic back on track, circa-2379 Tricorder:

I must be pretty good at blocking NEM from my memory, beacause I don't rememeber this at all.

That's when Data decides to jump from the Enterprise to the Scimitar, with Geordi switching on and off two forcefields for him.

Maybe I'm not such a big geek after all!
