This month is a short one, so I opted a more focused challenge... So how about Designing Star Trek in the style of Gerry Anderson? What that means is as such: 1-you can do it in Supermarionation style in mind (like Thunderbirds or Terrahawks) ..or Live action (like UFO or Space: 1999) 2-you can design ships or characters in the Anderson's Style (you can obviously photoshop puppets if you need to to show your creativity in his style.) Now I know everyone here knows of this Man's Iconic style...so let's try and tap into it and see what we come up with. Any Questions just post them here Good Luck!
Neat idea! Always loved the Thunderbirds style. Will think about ideas! As usual, these rules apply for this contest (from the Art Challenge Guidelines): the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views) your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)
Such a bummer I can't find the mashups from back in the day. You know, the ones some people made because Jonathan Frakes directed the Thunderbirds movie?
With Google I found this old creation from ten (!) years ago by Ptrope. Maybe it's inspiring to some …
Okay I am Popping this here...I do not believe I will be adding anything further: Direct Link: https://i.postimg.cc/1tfqZRhG/Gerry-Anderson-s-Star-Trek-00a.jpg
Even though I spent much more time on the other animations in my work in progress thread, I'm entering this image as I prefer it's simplicity and because -- She's mighty-mighty, just lettin' it all hang out.. OW!:
A "last hour" submission probably better identified as a "gag" entry... Trek: 1999 Admittedly, it's not quite "finished' as I don't have any markings on the "Mobile/shuttle", so I'm certainly not expecting many votes. I've long thought the SHADO Mobile had s silhouette vaguely similar to the Galileo, so I thought, "Let's swap out the treads for a pair of nacelles." Since the Mobiles occasionally deployed weapons, I plopped "The Cage" cannon . Spock sports a mishmash of the Moonebase Alpha spacesuit topped by the "Tholian Web" helmet in 1999 colors. I modeled the neck ring assembly, the control cuffs, the chest pack (and unseen the "proper" 1999 helmet and visor.
