Spoilers Fear the Walking Dead - Season 6

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how they handle the aftermath of the bombs going off. Realistically a good chunk of the cast was probably exposed to some pretty serious radiation, but I can't see them taking out that much of the cast unless they're ending the show.

Morgan and Grace, and Dwight and Sherry should be WD's by next Season but they probably still have plot armor. June and John's father despite being closer to the explosion are already in the bunker previously sourced as a shelter. Alicia's probably okay, and who knows about Strand? But also, everything around them should be irradiated at this point--any food or crops that they had been growing are toast. My guess is that they are going to have to fight to get in one of the established bunkers for supplies--and then head away from the blast zone.

As for the timeline, it was implied that Morgan's journey to the West took several years when he switched shows.
I was under the impression that he only spent weeks on his journey, no more than a month or so. At the very least, when Dwight arrived on Fear, he said that he had been looking for Sherry for "about a year now" which would suggest early Season 5 of Fear is a year after the end of Season 8 of Walking Dead.

I think you are correct on that. I haven't re-watched the series.

..and even this series would not have baby Morgan suffer from the effects of fallout, so that might be the thickest section of plot armor afforded to Morgan and Grace (and probably Rufus the dog).

Probably meaning a move to another state, or the struggles of getting there.

I wouldn't say Z Nation --- because they have a lot more fun on that show. The only comparison would be that I like the core characters of both...
I dunno, thinking about it, Fear seems more high concept than TWD in the way that Z Nation was. Virginia's community had some parallels with Murphytown and Season 4 ended with a similar apocalyptic moment like the nuclear one.
