Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 discussion and spoilers.

(Spoilers in 5 seconds)

Well, that was a killer finale.

No seriously.... Curtis killed the Bro-migos, which I think surprised nor angered anyone... but then killing off someone innocent in the process...and then Alicia kills the people who were understandably outraged

And Chris' death.... I was wondering if he had actually lived, and the Bro-migos were lying. Seemed like a lame death... and how again did those guys survive? Thrown from the truck from the first flip?

Sorry, but I really do not like this family, and wouldn't mind if they all died.

I will really miss Alejandro. I hoped he would be able to do more...but at least he did enough to save La Colonia and get the Narcos

despite the negative consequences in Nick's decisions... his was the most reasonable mistake . Which is sad.

An is Strand able to talk his way out of this? Or have a reason to come back.

My hope for Season 3 -- the return of Tobias as a post-apocalyptic leader.

p.s. wow, no one else replied for the past 3 weeks?

Yeah, Nick still remains the most reasonable when it comes to survival decisions. It's not his fault he didn't foresee the twist the writers threw at him at the end there.

Well, I guess we could have guessed that racism against "illegals" crossing the border won't stop, even with a zombie apocalypse.

Travis is a murderer. He's not killing for self defense. The series has been gradually building on his mahood issues since season one, and now he thinks he's free to do whatever he desires. It did not help that Madison not only supported the murders, but predicted he would do so again (just as she supported the torture of the soldier in season one).

..so why are they alive? What's their purpose if they rationalize murdering all to protect their own? That's the Governor's world view.

Now Alicia has killed an innocent man, and no amount of "its what we do / have to do" BS from Madison will change what registered on Alicia's face (in the truck).

And Chris' death.... I was wondering if he had actually lived, and the Bro-migos were lying. Seemed like a lame death... and how again did those guys survive? Thrown from the truck from the first flip?

You can be thrown from a vehicle from a rear or front end collision, so ejection from a violently flipping car would not be out of the ordinary. In any case, Chris was written as an idiot--long before his mother died, and the series just hit the gas on the "ooh! he's a psycho in training" sub plot which was annoying instead of interesting.

Sorry, but I really do not like this family, and wouldn't mind if they all died.

They are despicable characters, but Kirkman and his associates are still on that "dysfunctional = real & edgy / please give us Emmys" crap that was wore out its welcome in 1980s TV. There's no way to support this family at all, and unlike The Walking Dead, there is not even a hint of a moral compass among them.

One thing that completely takes audiences out of the story is the way the producers insist on having healthy, armed (and experienced) gunmen being easily picked off by slow zombies. Not to mention the stereotypical "banditio" act of the Narcos all celebrating by firing guns in the air. Around social media, I see some making excuses for their deaths with "they did not know how to deal with walkers," but the Narcos were shooting all in the head, so they were aware. Next, these are former drug dealing soldiers--they know how to use guns better than most, and that's against living, thinking adversaries, so there's no excuse for this large group of heavily armed men who knew how to kill walkers to just die quickly. Even if they ran out of ammunition, they are healthy and could outrun the rotting, shambling corpses.

Convenience leads to bad plotting.

In a real world situation, a character like Strand would make tracks to anywhere other than where that family lives. In the series, he will find some reason to go chasing after them, and probably die in whatever is left of this series next season.

My hope for Season 3 -- the return of Tobias as a post-apocalyptic leader.

Tobias? Why?

This show actually starting becoming more interesting to me last night as Travis finally stopped pussyfooting around and dropped his pacifist ways and beat the hell out of the brahs that killed his son. Also, why is this show being criticized for pulling some of the same shit the parent show has been doing for years? Just this year, Rick and co. pissed Negan off by killing a shit load of his gang just on the word of a sketchy leader at Hilltop saying that Negan's a bad guy. Also doing no recon work of their own to ensure they weren't being duped by said sketchy Hilltop leader. Now, it's going to bite them on the ass.

Rick was also willing to execute Pete because he wanted to bang Jessie (yes, the "reason" given was the domestic abuse), but Rick's been becoming as asshole more and more as time has gone by.

I think it's kind of refreshing to see Travis and Madison realizing they're going to have to be assholes to survive, as opposed to just being assholes and pretending to be the good guys like Rick Grimes does.

Again, you can't fault Fear the Walking Dead and give The Walking Dead a pass for doing the same crap. If anything, Fear the Walking Dead should be given a pass because we're still only a month or so into the zombie apocalypse, and it's possible some of these people have managed to remain sheltered this whole time. Two years into the zombie apocalypse, the stupid amateur-hour shit they still use to kill of characters shouldn't be happening.

Tobias? Why?

Because even before the shit started really hitting the fan, Tobias was preparing. Tobias would find a way :)

I don't know about anyone else, but I did criticize Rick and his group for murdering Negan's men (at the outpost) and thinking there would be no consequences. They played king of the land and found out they were the peasants with no right to power; everything that happens to Rick's group from this point forward is deserved.

Rick was also willing to execute Pete because he wanted to bang Jessie (yes, the "reason" given was the domestic abuse), but Rick's been becoming as asshole more and more as time has gone by.

I criticized Rick for that, as well as running the police car into Bob the cop--paralyzing him, then executing him, when he could have side swiped him in the way Noah was by the other officers. He had a choice, but selected brutality--murderous world view.

I think it's kind of refreshing to see Travis and Madison realizing they're going to have to be assholes to survive, as opposed to just being assholes and pretending to be the good guys like Rick Grimes does.

The problem is that in full-on adopting asshole / killer world views, the FTWD family is not appealing at all; Travis and Madison are characters with too much to prove (all for terrible reasons) and that is not the winning formula for series protagonists.

It was only a month or so when Rick walked out of the hospital, but you had characters who knew how to survive without falling to completely unbelievable deaths--characters like Rick, Morgan, Shane and Daryl. If they survived and understood what it took to kill zombie / avoid bites, a seasoned group of drug cartel soldiers (who did know that destroying the brain was the key) should be wiped out so easily. FTWD looks for easy solutions for antagonists--just as the American soldiers at the makeshift hospital just stood there as zombies shuffled their way to the fences. Even for a horror series, that was completely unbelievable.
