Okay, I finally got to see it. The show is really doing a good job of showing how fragile civilization is, both from a technological point of view and from a human standpoint. It doesn't take much to turn people into savages. And I like it that we have actually seen very few Zombies as yet-- it's helping to maintain that Night of the Living Dead vibe. Although we know that they can't keep that up for very long, since Walking Dead established that everything went toes up pretty quickly.
The scenes in the school were really good, when they encountered the Zombified principal. And the poor mom had to kill her friend. I don't think the Zombies are any tougher in this show, I just think that the characters are still holding back on some level. They're still thinking in terms of fighting a sick human being.
I do wonder if we'll see that kid ever again. I think it actually would have been a good idea to just hole up in that school. It's a pretty well fortified building, and as long as you make sure there aren't any other stray Zombies inside you'd be pretty safe.
Most of the characters are still pretty generic so far, but I'm really liking the druggy kid. He was concerned about the neighbor woman being unaware of the crisis and made his mom talk to her, and he was worried about his sister going back to her boyfriend. I think he faked that seizure to make her stay.
