Favourite Trek Couple

And something about her teeth always bugged me!

She looks like the Cheshire cat.

She had some creepy big hands though... :)

I dunno, Vash and Picard never seemed a good fit to me. She's too loose and wild for the calm and refined Picard.
That's what made them an interesting couple.

It did show as well as much as they argued in the two episodes they were together in.
News flash--Real couples do that.

Jennifer Hetrick and Patrick Stewart were engaged for a while during TNG's run.

But of course he cast her aside.

She's too old for Patrick's taste. ;)

My own few pennies...

Most relationships on all the Treks didn't ring "true" for me. More, those that did start to feel real went off the rails in terms of believability. One such was Amanda/Sarek. Her hissy fit at the end of "Journey to Babel" struck a very wrong chord, although up until then it felt very real. Was as if the production decided to staple on a slice of 50s sitcom onto the end, just so they could get a line everyone wanted (understandably, the line is great--my objection lies with the setup).

Never, ever saw any chemistry between Rider/Troi. Nor the two characters that in theory had captured Scotty's heart. Kirk's squeeze-of-the-week had all the emotional depth of a James Bond tryst. The "relationship" between Picard and Lwaxana felt fun, but came across as parsecs closer to a kind of friendship than anything like real romance. Other relationships, like Janeway's with her boyfriend (okay there was no time to develop that) and Sisko's with Yates, felt forced.

But the ones I did believe in, did feel touched a note of actual romantic chemistry...

Paris/Torres - because it seemed to spontaneously grow out of two flawed characters' interaction over years.
Picard/Vash - not because this was a Great Love, but because these two ended up with a strong connection, even though they'd be miserable married to one another.
Jadzia/Worf - for much the same reason as Paris/Torres. They worked with each other, got to know each other, and I totally accepted these two felt something real.
Spock/Uhura - heresy I know, but seems to me there was always a specific connection these two felt in the original timeline, and an alternate history if they'd met under different circumstances this seemed possible. Don't like how it played out in STID, though.

Special mention for Odo/Kira that almost made sense to me, for the Doctor's infatuation with Seven, and Bones' feelings for his old flame Nancy.

Hello, did anyone mention Data and Yarr? That would have been an interesting couple. My favorite has to be Tpol and tripp. Hands Down! :) New here not sure if I clicked on the right section. LOL enjoying the articles very much

I actually liked Troi & TOM Riker, better than Troi and Will Riker, at least during the series. In the movies, however, Riker\Troi was actually one of the few good things about the last two movies.

All of this. Also, Spock and Kirk. Not a couple in that sense but their bromance is epic for me.

Trip&T'Pol and Riker and Deanna Troi . Kira and Odo. Sarek/Amanda BenSisko/Kassidy Yates.

Rom/Leeta are adorable.

Odo/Kira, but only because I like Odo and he was happy for a while at that time (and I loved the part when he first kisses her). I'm not tremendously fond of Kira, though.

I can't believe anyone said Spok/Uhura :barf:
Yeah, that's pretty much my feelings on that.

Picard/Crusher (ST GEN):: I finally got my wish in the Trek novel universe.

Riker/Troi (ST GEN-----Movies):I was always like just get together already because not once did I think of worf/troi as end game.

Spock/Uhura (Star Trek 2009): unfortunately I did not like the movie into darkness and everything that came with it.
Did somebody by the name of KaraBear just vomit at mention of this couple? vomiting at the mention of two minority characters in a romantic relationship is just a big NO NO. prejudice much? or pephaps its because she ruined your K/S slash.

I say this with logic. Spock/Uhura from the 2009 film was one of the best couples star trek ever produced. the critical reception and popularity from the 2009 film about this pairing speaks for itself. Too bad it was ruined by the writers in the second film. STiD was a pretty bad film.

Sarek/Amanda (Star Trek TOS and Star Trek 2009): I saw the deleted scenes of the sarek and amanda fight from the 2009 film and I ask. How could you not love this pairing. although I never want to watch a sex scene featuring Sarek and Amanda.

Tpol/Trip (star trek ENT): Tpol endless experience with love, sex and emotions added another dimension to her character. Too bad Trip died. The writers did consider a Tpol reunion with him.

Data and just any girl (Star Trek GEN): Data constant need to feel like humans did was very enduring and I felt like he showed this need most when he was either Geordi or when he tried to be a boyfriend to Jenna D'Sora in the episode: In Theory.

It was so so sweet. My heart still breaks when Data said:"Then I will delete the appropriate program''. thereby ending the relationship.

Riker/Troi - Too bad we got jerked around for seven seasons and three movies before the fans finally got the payoff on that stroyline.

Spock counts as a minority in the real world?

Spock counts as a minority in the real world?

Spock is half vulcan and half human. yes he is a minority. He is a mixed breed of different races. he is not a human white male like Jim Kirk.

I strongly believe that Spock is more likely to experience racial abuse for been a mixed breed more so than Uhura or Gerodi or Sisko who are black.

So yes both Spock and Uhura are minorities in terms of ethnicity. Vomiting is a sign of disgust for something. Regardless of anyone intentions, KaraBear saying she wants to vomit at the site of this couple is blurring on racial lines because a lot of interracial couples used to get that kind of response from people not too long ago and even till now.

A lot of people in year 2013 still look at interracial couples with disgust and with a why face. If you don't believe me visit the deep southern states of USA. You can simply say you just don't like the pairing or you prefer another pairing.

No need for strong hate charge words especially when the people you are directing it too are minority characters.

Spock is even more of a minority than Uhura because human and Vulcan hardly get together. In the 23rd century I am sure no one gives a shit or even looks twice at a human interracial couple when they work down the street. People in the 23rd century still frown upon vulcan/human dating each other.

Remember when the vulcan kids called Amanda a whore because she was human and when the vulcan elders said Spock was at a disadvantage because he had a human mother? I doubt Uhura or Geordi have ever experienced that kind of insults for being black in the 23rd century.

So yes Spock is a minority in terms of ethnicity.
