While I didn't mention them as top 5 episodes, having watched them again recently, I think I should include "Mirror, Mirror", "The Naked Time" and "The Enemy Within" as favourites as well. Here are three episodes that on paper sound so cheesy and yet they're actually marvelously entertaining with delightfully campy performances by all involved and surprisingly clever and dramatic writing. Kirk yelling at Spock is always awesome, but especially in "The Naked Time" and "This Side of Paradise". "Mirror, Mirror" is actually pretty intense for an episode based on such a wacky high concept, and Evil Kirk in both this episode and "The Enemy Within" is Shatner at his over-the-top best. One way the original Star Trek clearly overshadows The Next Generation is in starting off strong. Just a few episodes in, they had some of their greatest and most memorable episodes, while TNG took two seasons to reach its highest quality.
