Favourite ship design?

I'm a big fan of the Mon Cal designs, even the Scythe from Star Wars Legacy.

For some reason, I thought the Mon Cals were the only ones in the Rebellion that had anything like rral capital ships that could go toe-to-toe with the Empire.

Slick Starfleet look--clean uniforms--didn't look slapped together. As if the Mon Cals were new to the scene

Wasn't it said somewhere in the EU that the Mon Cals only joined the rebel alliance between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back? That's contradicted by the X-Wing computer game series, but those types of discrepancies are unavoidable. The X-Wing and Tie Fighter strategy guides do state that the Mon Cal Star Cruisers are the only things the rebels have that can even play in the same league as the Star Destroyers.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks the Medical Frigate is pretty nifty.

The Snowspeeder. There's just something perfect about it as a fighter that one-ups any of the other Rebel or Imperial ships.
I can't say that it's at the top of my whole list (say whatever else you want, but the Empire had style ;) ), but I definitely always preferred the Snowspeeder design over that of any of the other Rebel ships. :techman:

Absolute favorite? The Twin Ion Engine Interceptor:

It's like the Empire said: "You guys think X-Wings are hot shit? Well here's a TIE fighter with four turbolasers! How do you like that shit?"
[Star Wars RPG Player] Actually, they're blaster cannons, and the TIE/In has SIX. (Two on the bottom fore of the cockpit area, four on wingtips.) Turbolasers are cap ship weapons [/nerd] ;)

Those informations are not absolute and change at will of the powers that be (I do remenber the times, when the SSD was 5 miles long and the short while when it was 8 miles long). The old RPG by West End Games describes the Interceptor with four laser cannons but i do remenber seeing the guns described as blasters in a different source (although i'm not sure where).

The model itself has ten gunports, there are two at the center of the cut-out section of each wing.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only *canonical* source left with information about the TIE/In is Return of the Jedi itself. And it depicts the TIE/in as firing from all six of the points I specified.

I understand where you're coming from, believe me, but ya done been Disneyed. ;)

Actually, TIE/In is the standard Imperial TIE Fighter, which is different from the TIE INT.

You have TIE/In (Standard fighter), TIE/Rc (Reconnaissance fighter), and TIE/Fc (fire control fighter for artillery and long range space strikes until the TIE Bomber came along)

And as I understand it, the TIE's as seen in TFA are called TIE/Fo (First Order)

Then again, my information also comes from RPG stuff... so, your actual parentheses may vary
[/nerd]
:D

[nerd]
The designations are lowercase, its not TIE/In (uppercase i, lowercase N), it's TIE/ln (lowercase L, lowercase N), TIE/rc, TIE/fc and TIE/gt (the precedessor to the bomber - hexagonal wings and a single pod with the bomb bay behind the pilot).
[/nerd] ;)

Yeah, well, whatever. It's been a while since I've roleplayed, and almost a year since I've read a book of any kind thanks to fading eyes. Thank goodness I can turn the font here up. :scream:

But my information about what the TIE Interceptor is shown doing in ROTJ is correct, anyway. :P

They were labeled as such, beginning with the first edition of the "Essential Guide to Vessels and Vehicles".

Who knows, what they could have been, if AMT had done a better job in 1983.

[Explanation: Unsubstantiated rumors claim, that the authors, who first wrote up some specs on the Interceptor to be included into the old EU did not look at photos of the shooting model but worked from a AMT model kit - on which supposedly the chin guns on the main pod are not modelled and the guns in the cut-out were not identifiable as such leaving only the four wingtip ones, hence only four guns in the specs.]

Actually, those two ports on the main pod of the Interceptor are supposed to be Space Hooters. (Supposed to be... but they're A-cups... so, somehow, Space Hooters doesn't seem to be appropriate here.)

By contrast:

I understand that when Imperial personnel want to record shows and watch them later, they use a TIE/Vo.... ;)

:guffaw::guffaw: Good one!

The Empire started outsourcing their fighter construction to foreign interests. Look at the manufacturing stamp. You'll see:

Made In TIE/1.

TIE fighter pilots are encouraged to learn martial arts and combine it with their exercise. It's called:
TIE/Bo

Ok...I know those were horrible. :D
