Favourite serious Simpsons moments

One of my favorite Simpsons moments, period, is Homer sitting alone, staring at the night sky after saying goodbye to his mother in "Mother Simpson."
He's actually standing at the road side with his head bowed stairing at the ground, thats what makes it so sad.

This. "Mother Simpson" is full of wonderfully poignant moments but that scene is just perfect.

Thats a great scene with the shooting star, and the music makes it that much better, very moving.
How about in "Old Money" at the end when Grandpa opens the door to the newly renovated dining/play area at the rest home. I forget what he says to them, but it's along the lines of "welcome to dignity my friends" or something. That was surprisingly moving, especially with the swell of music that accompanies it.

Agreed. The line you're talking about when Abe opens the door to the Beatrice Simmons Dining Hall is "Come on in, dignity is on me, friends", and yes, it is a very touching scene.

Great scene.

HOMЯ the ninth episode of season 12; Homer's letter to Lisa for taking the cowards way out.

I've always really liked the scene at the end of 'My Mother, The Carjacker', where Homer is trying to convince everyone there's another cryptic message for him from Mona in the newspaper crossword.

Even the later seasons have some nice moments in them.

Valentine day's episode. It was a clip show where the family describes all their horrible past relationships.

At the end Homer and Marge hear the kids laughing in the living room and then they kiss a bit.

The episode where homer becomes a manager for a singer. At the end homer comes home to Marge after Marge suspects Homer of cheating/going with the singer. Even my mom said "There's a lesson to be learned there"

Homer and beer. He slowly looks up at marge. From the feet to the mid section finally face to face
