Ah well, taste is a personal thing after all, Bones. We disagree about Eccleston and Piper. But I still like you so make with the reviews. I'm suffering from scathing criticism withdrawal. ;)
My last exam's on Thursday, so I should be able to do the next one soon after that :)
you can understand how you'd need Eccleston rather than an actual Doctor
:brickwall:
Oh shush. If I posted an angry emoticon every time I disagreed with you, I'd...well, I'd be posting a lot more emoticons.

DT wins my vote because Matt Smith has not been in long enough to beat him yet though hes doing a wonderful job. Eccleston is ok but I rate McGann better who was my 1st Doctor when his movie aired in 1996 (I was 9)

Needless to say, my vote also went to Tennant. I also liked Eccleston a lot and wish he'd gotten more than one season. Smith is ok but possibly not quite my kind of Doctor, also it's still a bit early.

Tennant is my favorite of the three so far, thought the gap is not large. Smith seems to be a natural in the role and may very well eclipse Tennant given a little more time. Eccleston was also great, but really lacked the time to really get to know him.

Eccleston.

Neither Tennant nor Smith has ever matched him.

That's a great clip. That, and the end of Bad Wolf with the "Rose, I'm coming to get you" speech. Eccleston really had that toughness about him that the other Doctor's have lacked. I really wish he had stayed on one more year.

Hell, I wish Eccleston were still the Doctor! As far as I'm concerned, Christopher Eccleston's is the definitive Doctor; all others are measured in comparison to him.

Dalek is easily Eccleston's best performance in the series. I think he knew he was finally making a decent episode of television. As for his Bad Wolf speech, that sounded to me like a northern drunk stumbling home from the pub.

"...AND THEN I'M GONNA WIPE EVERY STINKING DALEK OUT OF THE SKY!"
"Course you are mate. C'mon, let's get you home."
"FOOK OFF, I'M GETTIN' CHIPS."

Then he twats the other guy one on the jaw. Or something.

So far, it's Tennant, but that is after 3 years and several specials. But Smith is a close second.

This is just me, but Tennant would have been the front runner had it NOT been for those specials. I feel that they really knocked him down several pegs.

Eccleston was okay but his performance seemed forced at times and at times looked like he really didn't care. He also didn't have what I can only describe as sort of twinkle in the eye that all the other actors who've played the Doctor have had. There were times he almost had it but not quite.

Tennant was good in the begining but became an annoying sulking prat near the end. This wasn't helped by the fact the writers after a while seemed to have a check list of things he had to do or say at least once every episode.
Has he made a goofy face? Check.
Has he said "Oh, yes"? Check.
Has he said "Allonsy" and/or "Molto bene"? Check.
Has he said "I'm sorry"? Check.

Smith is pretty good so far. He seems to be enjoying the roll. And even though he's playing a very distinct verson of the Doctor he seems to have incoperated a few elements of previous Doctors in performance. Something which Eccleston and Tennant did do.

So I'd have to say Matt Smith is my favorite of the new guys so far.

I think my apathy toward Smith has been fed by the quality of the episodes he's been in. Victory of the Daleks being really disappointing. Murlocs in Venice was not really inspiring either. Good bits in all of them though. I agree with those who say he is Troughton-esque and that is not a bad thing.

Tennant for sure. I am enjoying Smith and Ecclestone is a faded memory. Never bother to rewatch his episodes.

Not too keen on Colin or McCoy, give me Pertwee or Davison.

I quite like the others, but there is something about Matt Smith that feels to me like this Doctor is just finally getting his mojo back - something both Eccleston & Tennant lacked. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there is just this "Oh.. He's back." quality to it.

With Smith I can't quite get a grasp of him. His character sometimes seems vastly different from episode to episode, or even scene to scene. It is one thing to show mood, but it is almost like a multiple personalities thing. I love him otherwise, I just wish he would settle into a slightly less fluid character.

I'm torn between the other two. I for one love Tennant's last year or two far above the other seasons, but Eccleston did have this otherworldly quality that really made him stand out even when standing still in a crowded room. I'm not sure I could make the call.
