Favourite Novel, Series

Sticking to a narrow interpretation of the question I am going with the initial New Frontier mini series. Because I had just about given up on Trek Lit and the very narrow boundaries that it was in at the time. I was tired of reading stories that didn't
"matter" in a larger context. So when NF came along and it was free to within it's own piece of the playground at least have events that didn't have to be reset at the end I was very very excited.

Series:
DS9 relaunch
VOY relaunch
Mirror Universe

Overall favorite novels:
A Stitch in Time
Destiny trilogy
Full Circle
The Never-Ending Sacrifice
DTI: Watching the Clock

Series:
Vanguard

Novels:
Too many to choose, but my absolute favorites in no order are:
TOS: Prime Directive
TOS/TNG: Federation
TNG: Q-Squared

I've always been a big NF fan.
The first 3 Shatner books were good but they quickly became crap after that.
The Invasion series was awesome!
Titan feels the most like classic Trek.
Vanguard is what I'm currently the most enthusiast about.

I'd have to say Destiny meant the most to me as a Trek reader, though. I got fatigued and gave up on trek lit a long time ago because there got to be too many books, some boring reads, and there were lots of contradictions. Then a friend convinced me to read Destiny. The series was so good. I couldn't put it down. I liked it so much I read the other Titan books and TNG relaunch novels and have been an enthusiastic reader since. If David Mack had not done such an amazing job on that trilogy, I probably would not be reading Trek novels now.

My favorites are (in no particular order):

Spock's World by Diane Duane - I adore this book. To me, this is the kind of story that Trek is all about. There was no need for a huge space battle, or a traditional bad guy. It was world-building, intelligent, and well written. Great book.

Ex Machina by Christopger L. Bennett - For all the same reasons that Spock's World was good, so is this. Okay, yes, it had a big space battle, but the point of it was never the battle, but to further explore the characters. One of the best character-development novels of the Trek line, and it takes place in my favorite era, the post-TMP world. I can't wait till Christopher's next DTI novel comes out, I hope we can explore these characters a bit more in it!

The Romulan Way (and, to a lesser extent, the other books in the Rihannsu series) by Diane Duane - I love this book, such a great story, and even today I think of Romulans like this, not as the one-dimensional characters they seem to be in many of the later TV adventures.

Final Frontier and Dreadnought! by Diane Carey - Controversial picks (at least, Dreadnought!), but well written, and just lots of fun. I could read the adventures of George Kirk, Robert April, and Drake every day. They are so well-developed! As for Piper in Dreadnought, well, she may be a Mary Sue, but I was young when I read this the first time, and I loved it. It is just lots of fun!

Ok, I have others, but I'll stop there! Cheers!

Oh, and for Series, you can't go wrong with the DS9 relaunch, especially the first few books!

I can't believe that no one mentioned the one and only Star Trek musical: How Much For Just the Planet by the late John M. Ford. I honestly can not remember enjoying any piece of fiction quite as much as this one.

For a serious novel, not a comedy masterpiece, then either Mr. Ford's The Final Reflection or Diane Duane's The Wounded Sky.
