I'll join the ranks of the Garak supporters, though. Why couldn't he be a proper main character? *sigh*

Garak never appeared as much as people tend to think he did. Just 33 episodes according to Memory Alpha, mostly coming from two-parters and the two big war arcs. That's about a season and a quarter.
