Favourite/Least Favourite Fights

There have been a lot of fisticuffs over the span of Trek, but what is your favourite and least favourite one (no phaser or starship battles allowed)?

Favourite: Kira whooping Damar. She lays into him and doesn't stop until he's out cold. It just shows how good she was in the Resistance and how she can really take on anyone regardless of their size. Trek's best scrapper, IMHO.

Least Favourite: Troi against Jeb (the Ullian). Though she's an Academy graduate (where she would've been taught some for of self-defence) and takes Worf mok'bara class, she resorts to girlish slaps before whacking him with a PADD.

Most favourite: Most instances of Kirk-fu. Also the yeoman in The Apple was a good fighter.

As for least favourite: Kirk/Catwoman had a very, very sick aftermath. Why he has left her lying in the pool face down..?

Other: Spock outside pon farr / anyone. When he doesn't get to do the nerve pinch, he is a damn bad fighter. It's quite entertaining to watch him though.

Janeway and the macroscopic virus - hilarious

Actually, most of Voyagers fights are hilarious

B'llanna and Vorik, Neelix and Tom's food fight, Seven and the Rock, Chakotay and the Terrellian boxer etc

Favourite:
Kirk/Kruge

Just watched this again. Love it. And I think this is probably the only instance of a direct and obvious kick to the nether regions? Frickin' awesome seeing Kirk do whatever it takes.

Lloyd is great. It was a little out of character when, near the beginning of the fight, he says dying on the planet would be "perfect," because Kruge is not really a nutty-about-honor type but more of an I-want-to-win-not-lose-gloriously sort, but he soon gets back on track and thinks only of getting Genesis from Kirk. His last words are "Give me Genesis." Perfect line for his character (that's what we don't get in nuTrek).

This is a hard one to beat.

But but but--I just watched Kirk and Spock in Amok Time and I have to say that got my heart going faster than Kirk and Kruge. The music really adds to it, but there's some really good choreography---like when Spock smashes the gong. Number 1 for me: Kirk and Spock, Amok Time.

Runner-up: fight scene from TNG's Tapestry, in the bar, Picard and the other two cadets with the Nausicans. Cool that Picard's loudmouth friend is getting the worst in the fight, the lady cadet is holding her own, and of course Picard is kicking ass and taking names until he gets stabbed on an unguarded flank. Pretty damn good fight. The smaller humans taking on the huge Nausicans just looks cool to me, as it's done.

Least favorite: Worf against the Jem'Hadar in By Inferno's Light in DS9. Just doesn't fulfill the hype.

Favourite: Seven and the Hirogen at the end of Tsunkatse. Some nice martial arts moves and she ends with a sweet multi-punch.

My other fav is Kirk and Spock on Vulcan. And Worf and Gowron on DS9.

Least fav: Paris and the Klingon. It was pretty slow (even though the Klingon did have the nehret). And they used a cross-fade in the middle of the fight.

Favourite:
Commodore Decker and the security guard

Least Favourite:
Pregnant Kira and the Klingon Warrior (I mean come on !!)

Least Favourite:
Pregnant Kira and the Klingon Warrior (I mean come on !!)

She's fighting for two!

Anyway, I've two favorites:

-The bar fight in Trials and Tribblations. While the original is classic, I've a fondness for this one simply because it's a juxtaposition of 60s fighting and 90s fighting. Worf makes all the visual difference, with a "Let's see what I bring to the table" attitude.

-Malcolm Reed vs. Major Hayes. It was the climax of a very man-strating subplot for the two, but getting there was pretty character driven compared to much of Trek. The fight was fluid and well-choreographed, but my favorite aspect is probably the fact that they're not fighting with worlds at stake or the ship in danger. They're fighting just to let off some steam. Some very personal steam, though.

Least favorites:
-any time Worf gets tossed around by a single blow in TNG. This includes his attacking Sir Guy of Gisbourne in QPid. DS9 greatly redeemed him.

-Actually a non-fight, but the lengths the writers went to keep Tuvok from fighting the Rock. Yes, having Seven face him was a ratings stunt for sweeps, but Tuvok is supposed to have expert martial arts training from several worlds.

Kirk vs. Spock.

"The Naked Time", "This Side of Paradise", "Amok Time" and Star Trek (2009).

All great fight scenes.

Favorite: Kirk versus "Finnegan"
Least Favorite: Kirk versus Khan, way too obvious stunt doubles.

oh wow, forgot Tracey vs Kirk in The Omega Glory. First fight, best one, short and sweet and no stunt doubles, Kirk loses, Tracey is one wicked badass. Honorable mention.

Best: Kirk versus Finnegan in "Shore Leave."

Worst: Hard to say. A lot of them could be called just ordinary, but worst? I guess I'll give it to some of the sword fighting in "Day of the Dove." It takes a lot of choreography and rehearsal to make sword fighters look like they're really fighting and not just clanging swords. Apparently, they didn't have the time on this episode. :D

Favorite: Kirk battling two of Anan 7's goons in "A Taste of Armageddon". Shatner does all the moves himself with no double.

Least Favorite: Any time Archer deliberately allowed himself to be a human punching bag to distract aggressors from something his friends were doing. Best example is probably "The Andorian Incident".

Reed/Hayes was my favorite too. And the best part was, after letting off steam, they were interrupted by a tactical alert - they immediately teamed up to take down the alien.

I also enjoyed the final fight scenes on the Xindi weapon (Archer/Reed/Macos/Reptilians)

Oh and an honorable mention to the catfight between MU T'Pol and Hoshi, though that may not count since it was mainly a knife fight?

I can't think of a least favorite, except that nothing in Voyager stands out as remarkably good.

Kirk fights have this weird balance between being cool but also having a really blatant artificiality to them.

I just got done watching Gamesters of Triskelion. That was a cool fight, also really, really artificial looking. And they say Kirk can only step on the blue and the others can only step on the yellow but Kirk steps on the yellow several times and doesn't get penalized.

TNG, I liked the fight against invisible guy in Darmok.

I'm not a fan of the Worf/Gowron fight in DS9. (The last one). Way too many TV and movie fights go the same way. Bad guy overpowers good guy, disarms him, knocks him down. Raises his weapon way above his head to deliver kill blow, good guy suddenly jams a piece of something into his stomach. Fights choreographed like that are cheesy. But some of Worf's other fights in DS9 were good.

Arena and Shore Leave--it's said those were two of the longest fight scenes in Trek.

In Arena, Kirk picks up a basket ball sized rock and throws it at the Gorn. It bounces off of him. The Gorn then slowly walks up to a huge three foot boulder, and throws it at Kirk.

It's just the way that scene looks that works. TOS always took their time with fight scenes.

Way of the Warrior-- the fight scene when the Klingons beam aboard the station. Great scenes. Kira looks really bad ass.

Worst part of that scene: Dax simply kicks a Klingon in the chest and he goes down for good.

To The Death --the scene where they have to fight their way into a citadel to destroy the gateway.

Worse part of that scene; Dax again. She's fighting about 2 Jem Hadar soldiers at the same time and beating them on her own while talking to her comrade who's also fighting.

Worf fighting the Jem Hadar in that compound.

Kirk vs. the Gorn from "Arena", for it's iconic campiness.

Archer vs. the Xindi commander in "Zero Hour". This is Archer's crowning moment of awesome.

Spock vs. Khan in "Into Darkness". He countered a skullcrusher with a mind-meld!!

!

I loved the entire sequence on the Xindi weapon. I enjoyed Reed and the MACOs too. There was one MACO, I think it was Ramiro?, that got in some great kicks before he got stabbed by the Reptilian. I was a little frustrated when the team returned to Enterprise, and Reed tells Trip that the Captain "didn't make it", with no mention of Ramiro. And Reed being the guy that got emotional at the death of Hawkins and Hayes.

Ah, well...having been military, I've always been partial to the MACOs.

My favorite fight is Kirk/Khan from "Space Seed." In order to get his ship back, with no access to his technology, he just beats a guy's ass with a pipe.
