I'm a bit amazed to realise my favourite is Decker. He puts up with a lot of rubbish from Kirk in TMP and manages to look the better of the two men a lot of the time. Had V'ger not happened, he would have made a worthy Enterprise Captain.
Wow, what a week selection of choices. I was expecting to vote for Lily when I saw the thread title, but limiting the choices to Starfleet officers leaves us with a pretty pathetic roster to choose from. The only choice offered that I liked was the first Saavik, but I wasn't too crazy about her. She just had more personality than any of the others.
Hawk was cool, but he was just a glorified extra with hardly any dialogue or personality. The Robin Curtis Saavik was so boring, she's one of the reasons I bought Star II and IV, but not III. I'm so glad they got rid of her so early in IV. Ilia was pretty funny with her calling everyone 'Unit', but that wasn't even her. She was such a dull character, she was only interesting when she was possessed by a machine!
I'd like to add Galia, Uhura's green room mate from Star Trek Eleven. While a minor character, she was more than just a extra with a few lines. Her two scenes were nice, She has a interesting non-canon, off screen backstory concerning how Kirk beat the KM simulator, I felt legitimately sorry in the movie theater when I realized that she likely was killed over Vulcan.
