I refuse to vote because I like them all. I wish people wouldn't get so extreme as to hate something that basically looks the same just because its not originally what was seen. I mean this is what non-fans laugh about. If anyone is splitting hairs to the point that they hate the "Cage" version vs the series version, they really need psychological help! Even the T09 version has the same basic shape and less detailing that some of the STNG era ships. You show the TMP era E-prise next to it, they'll prob say they're basically the same ship!

My favorite Enterprise out of all these wonderful designs is the Ambassador Class Enterprise-C. It just combines the best of the STNG ship with the best of the TMP era although if we were to see a real "hero" CGI model for any future appearances, I think it could be tweaked, since it wasn't really designed to bear close scrutiny.

I don't care for the Enterprise D but I don't hate it. To me all of them having some things I really like about them. I too really love the Enterprise C.

Enterprise-A with the Star Trek V bridge.

At least as far as Kirk goes. My favorite Enterprise of all is the Enterprise-D.

Definitely the TMP refit. That has to be one of the finest starship designs Trek has ever had.

Warped9, I know that these were not official because they were never seen on screen, but there are three more Enterprise versions: The McQuarrie design, the Phase-II design, and the pre-TMP refit which was filmed before upgrades were made to the model (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about).

^^ Yes, but since they were never onscreen it's not an unreasonable assumption that many people would not be familiar with them. Also they were concepts and not really finished designs.

Had we never known an earlier Enterprise, must of us would love the JJprise.

Because I know the original, it looks "wrong" to my eyes.

But
Its lines remind me of a classic auto from the '30s. Or an art noveau poster. I'd like to like it more, but my emotions are pre-biased as usual.

Refit all the way. E never looked better than in TMP

That said Kirk Era TOS 1701 is the enduring classic. My favorite image of her is warping past the lens in the opening credits (yes, blurred beyond belief) She is gorgeous to look at, but meant to be in motion, something that TOS-R effects never adequately captured.

JJ-prise is rendered beautifully, and is some of if not the best CGI spaceship 'photography' I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I have too many issues with the design for it to supplant either of the above.

Yes, it's largely a matter of perception, but no successive design to bear the name has ever had the same screen presence as the Kirk era TOS E. Through use of music, photography and character references the TOS series Enterprise seemed so much more than just a piece of nice looking hardware. I think some of that was transferred to the TMP refit, but not to the same extent. And certainly none of the A, B, C D or E ever had it.

This is highly debatable...it wasn't really filmed or lit that well. If it had screen presence at the time it was because it was the first real large "city in space" type starship anyone had seen visualized. I like the design, its a triumph of 60s production efforts...but its really kind of utilitarian and basic. The TMP era ship was a genuine improvement. The E-D in it's very first scene with the saucer forward towards the screen was a terrific shot, I was more impressed with the size and presence than any shot from the TOS show...the movies of course are a different matter.

TOS-Kirk-series version. It's not without its flaws but it is the most aesthetically pleasing out of the original Es.

TNP-Ent-A looks too angular, especially those flat rectangle nacelles.

JJ-prise looks nice except the nacelles are too long and too closely spaced together. Also, the pylons are too "swoopy" and set too far back on the secondary hull.

Although its always been close in my mind, the TMP refit Constitution edges out the original Kirk era Constitution. It's purely a matter of the fact that the TMP refit was the first Enterprise I ever saw. The design is not perfect, the nacelles don't fit all that well, but she's my favorite all the same. The Kirk era ship however just works on every level.

I voted for the TOS version. I love that ship inside and out and have never grown tired of it. The TMP version comes in a close second but I dislike the design of the warp engines and the supporting struts. In my opinion, the original has never been improved on.

Best in my opinion..TOS version..

Simplicity In Design...
Matt Jefferies wanted a Starship very much in keeping with a submarine's design, so he kept most of the access points on the inside..(Submarine crews access almost every system from inside the boat..exactly the thing for travel in a hostile environment )

As designs for the Big E evolved, they began to lose that theory of design...adding more and more greebles on the outside of the ship...Till what we got in ST09..( The Big E in ST09 looks powerful but has many things on the exterior that couldn't be fixed from inside)..

I voted: ST09 (Abrams) version

I grew up in a Nascar family in the era of muscle cars. IMO, Enterprise from ST09 has evolved into the muscle ship I always knew it could be.

Of course, I love the Kirk-era Enterprise... it was my first love.

To me it looks more like an overstyled American car from the 1950s — a malproportioned Harley J. Earl wet dream. The nacelles have cowls and airscoops, for Christ’s sake.

It's a simple, classic, utilitarian design, befitting a military organization sent out on a long, arduous mission, which JJ, for some demented reason, wanted to turn into a "hot rod", the perfect ride for his rebel without a clue, Li'l Kirk.

^^ One flattering shot (and I don't think it's that flattering) doesn't create screen presence. It's an accumulation of things over time that does it.
