Favourite Class of Ship

Constellation class. Two nacelles good, four nacelles better! I also like all the greebles attached all over the place and the thicker Saucer with the Big ol' Shuttlebay door.

As much as I love Andy Probert's work, I really like the Constitution-looking secondary hull. It's a bit sexier.

I LIKE BIG

Shuttlebay doors and I cannot lie
You other Trekkies can't deny
When a shuttle rides in at impulse speed
With the goods that the crew does need
You get sprung...
I know, right? Fat secondary hull? Have you seen the Excelsior?

Constitution Class (Refit)

Ambassador Class (both onscreen and concept)

Galaxy-Class

Excelsior Class (original not Ent-B version)

Kelvinverse Constitution Class (alt-original and Refit)

:)

The "Constitution Class" was originally called "Starship Class" - hence the commissioning plaque on the bridge...

(No, there was no U.S.S. Starship!)
Has there ever been a televised, canonical establishment there was a "USS Constitution"?

And in ST IV when Spock is taking the test. Also in the Trouble with Tribbles, Scotty is looking as some blueprints for phaser banks which mention the Constitution-class (but the print is really tiny!).

the Admiralty was going through a "Grace Slick's 80's Years" thing at the time.

In no particular order...
  • Original Constitution, the perfect balance between power, speed and grace. Looks good from any angle. Those golden ratios are magical.
  • NX Class, clunkier looking as appropriate to the era, but perhaps technically the best thought out ship in the whole 'verse. The unofficial upgrade with secondary hull makes it even better.
  • Klingon D7. Mean looking SOB.
  • Excelsior refit. The original Excelsior is a beauty, but that Catalina style secondary hull gave it a little more beef.
  • Crossfield class. It's weird and took some time to grow on me, but it did.

Probably easier to pick out ones I don't like, of which there is 2, Yaeger Class and Curry Class - I know they had to throw them together for DS9, but what where they thinking!

If I had to pick particular favourites, Constitution Class - TOS and Refit and Excelsior Class.
