So, for whatever reason, I felt like rewatching these movies.

My favorite is:

Christmas Vacation

Followed by:

Vacation
European Vacation
Vegas Vacation
Christmas Vacation 2 (I still can't believe this movie was made)

My rank is:

Christmas Vacation
Vacation
European Vacation
Vegas Vacation
Christmas Vacation 2

Mine would be the same, except I never saw CV2. I've never even heard of it.

Christmas Vacation and Vacation were both excellent. European Vacation and Vegas Vacation were both fair.

JMHO

"We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with DANNY FUCKING KAYE!!!!!!!"

Re: Rank the "Vacation" movies!

The original. And the Christmas one. The rest suffered from *many things*.

I've always felt that Christmas Vacation was a very underrated Christmas movie. People really enjoy telling me how it's not just a terrible holiday movie, but the worst of the Vacation series. I still don't get it!

Vegas and European weren't that bad. In fact, there was a line I noticed in European Vacation the other day that gave me a huge laugh. As the Griswolds arrive in Paris and meet the couple from Akron, Ohio, Clark introduces his Ellen to them and of course his "daughters" Audrey and Rusty. '' Also, when they make their way to Germany and stay with, who they think, are Clark's relatives.

"My family and I are looking for sex."

"Who the hell were they?!"
"Beats the shit out of me!"

:guffaw: :guffaw:

I love in Vegas Vacation the joking reference to the kids being played by different actors in each movie with Clark's line, "I hardly recognize you anymore."

Gotta go with the original Vacation as my favorite, with Christmas Vacation not far behind. I hate European Vacation, but Vegas Vacation was ok. I haven't even bothered with Christmas Vacation 2.

Semi off-topic, but it looks like they approached Chevy Chase with an idea for a new Fletch movie.

European Vacation is my favorite by far (loved Eric Idle in it, lol), but close behind is Christmas Vacation.

Christmas Vacation cracks me up, every time.

Vacation is pretty good, and holds up.

Didn't care much for European Vacation and haven't bothered with Vegas Vacation or Cousin Eddie's movie.

So if the Vacation titles had simply been Vacation, Vacation 2, Vacation 3 and Vacation 4, would that last movie have been called Vacation 3 II: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure?

I love'em all except for Christmas Vacation 2 of course.

Christmas Vacation is actually a Christmas tradition in my home. We watch it every Christmas Eve. No one's allowed to watch it any other time. lol

So hard to choose from the first 3! All classics.

That said, I think most people value 'Christmas' too much and 'European' too little.

(And heck, if you want to know how great this series is, even the insipid, derivative, lame follow-up "Vegas Vacation" is STILL a really good movie!)

LOL. It is a tradition in our house that we watch it, or at least hubby and I do on Thanksgiving!!!!

It begins our 'Christmas' season. :)

Ever since we saw it in theaters, Christmas Vacation has been a family tradition every year.

A very, very, VERY close second (possible tie) is the original Vacation.

Never really cared much for European or Vegas Vacation.

I think part of the reason why European fell somewhat flat was the absence of Randy Quaid. Can you imagine Catherine and Eddie trekking through Europe with Clark and Ellen?

Definitely has to be Christmas Vacation. I watch it every Christmas Eve religiously.

And one thing Christmas Vacation needed just for posterity...

''I found out long ago... it's a long way down the holiday road....''

:D

I found the best reason to watch Vegas Vacation to be Marisol Nichols as Audrey.

That being said, yeah, Christmas Vacation is my favorite!

Absolutely! She was my favorite Audrey. Loved the scene when she was "starting her vacation.":drool:
