Favorite Starship from the Franchise?

Well I also think the way the original ship dominates polls like this is very much a received opinion, you're expected to hold TOS above the rest of the series if you're to be accepted around here.
Rose tinted glasses, and all that.

It's that kind of thinking that blinds people to the great work done by the later series (as is the "special effects is for fanboys-I only care about the stories" dren) and especially the later visual effects designers.

It's absurd to presume that people aren't voting what their personal favorites are. Implying otherwise is just a way of trying to delegitimize people's stated opinions.

I find them over-designed compared to the original. Especially the Enterprise-E. It's just a personal preference.

Not everything works for everyone. But I think it's disingenuous to think that people all choose the original because they're expected to. Especially on this board where Deep Space Nine regularly wins 'Best Series' polls.

Yeah. I agree with this 100%

So, I'm just gonna post NDT's remarks on the E.

Even the first Enterprise I saw, the refit, does not quite hold the magic of the original. "Seductive" is damn right.

NDT is amazing...lol

Thanks for posting that.;)

Can't believe some people said the Abramsverse Enterprise, talk about Stockholm Syndrome.

Aesthetically I still think the Intrepid Class is one good lookin ship along with the Enterprise E and the Excelsior Class.

No substitute.

Quoted for TRUTH!

It has gone beyond a spaceship model. It is a symbol now--a flag--a hope for what tomorrow could be.

Absolutely. This is why the 11-foot Enterprise model belongs in the NASM, it is not just a prop from an old TV show like Archie Bunker's chair or Fonzie's leather jacket. It means so much more than that.

So very very true

My remarks from a few posts ago regarding people choosing the TOS Enterprise also seem quite appropriate here.

+1

The Abramsverse Enterprise has grown on me quite a bit since the first time I saw it in 2009. It ranks right up with the TOS version, the Enterprise-D and Shaw's Phase II version of the ship.

Why wasn't their a TNG or post movie update of the Miranda? I think if it had Voyager's nacelles and the defiant's plating, it would look pretty cool.

Oh geeze. "Whoever likes what I don't like is clearly brainwashed." Can we give that a rest? I don't even like the Abramsprise but people are entitled to like what they want without being expected to defend it.

Constellation class. I think of the design as being overshadowed by the glamor project-the Excelcior/transwarp drive-but enduring as a workhorse.

That sounds a lot like the Saber class.

The Soyuz-class was post-movie update of the Miranda, yes? Just not commissioned in the TNG era.

As an aside, I think of the Nebula-class as very Miranda-esque, in that we almost have Constitution:Miranda::Galaxy:Nebula. Obviously, where the analogy falls down is that the Nebula has a secondary hull.

Definitely the USS Defiant NX-74205.

None of them fancy bells and whistles except for the cloaking device.

I think of the Centaur class as a sort of Miranda replacement. Or was intended as such.
