favorite Starfleet UNIFORM?

ENT uniforms. They actually look like uniforms

For the duty uniforms this is correct. The ENT uniforms have things like pockets and zippers and look like something you could crawl around an engine room in. But most naval personell don't wear that sort of uniform most of the time, and ENT should have had something more formal looking, for the officers at the very least. That might have been forgivable though, if they hadn't kept basically the same look for the dress uniforms, which were hideous, and the admiral uniforms, which looked like something that could be worn by a blind outer space bus driver

The red TOS movie uniforms are really the only ones that look like something an actual navy would wear, and they look quite nice to boot, though the enlisted uniform was a bit off.

My favorite is the FC/DS9 uniform. I just love the way it looks. The black and gray being the same across all the uniforms with the only color changes being to the stripe on the sleeve and the collar/undershirt really looks better to me while making them all look together but still separate divisions.

This. I never liked the TOS/TNG different colored uniform. Watching now, it feels like I'm watching the Wiggles. FC/DS9 made them look more like the military with just minor color variations.

You have to remember that Ent was trying to evoke NASA utility not Navy dress. They were quite successful in that regard.

Never understood the love for the FC uniforms, they look really hot and bulky to me.

I have no taste though, my favourites are the VOY jumpsuits :D

I'm a big time Kirk-and-crew fan, so this no doubt colors my opinion, but for me it's a toss up, depending on my mood, between the TOS uniforms and the maroon jacket uniforms from the later movies.

Oddly, I really dislike the First Contact uniforms, though they probably are the closest the TNG-era uniforms ever got to the maroon jackets. I just don't find them visually interesting. I realize that's probably not much of a practical consideration for a military uniform, but it's still a TV show.

Yes i agree too, the ENT series uniforms in my opinion are my favorite. They are more practical for the work place. They do have more formal wear, you just never got to see it, because the series was all about the first 5 year mission. But look at the last episode, Archer is wearing something formal, it looks similar, but it does look nice for formal wear.

I thought ENT's full dress uniforms (seen only in the final ep) were ugly as sin. They should have just used the admiral's uniform as the dress uniform.

I agree that the Enterprise uniforms were the best, mostly because they were the most practical. If I recall correctly the Next Generations uniforms had no pockets, which strikes me as hugely impractical. Was there ever a reason given for the pocketless uniforms?

^ Putting pockets in spandex is next to impossible. As for the third season revamp, I think the pants had them.

But why would you need pockets in the 24th Century. They don't have wallets or keys. :bolian:

So engineers don't need to carry any type of handheld tools.
Away missions don't need tricorders or phasers.

I can understand having a work uniform or work jacket with pockets and things for when engineers or other people are working, but as for the regular day to day uniforms, wouldn't pants pockets be enough? That's all that most people have on them nowadays.

And yes, the TNG season 3-7 uniforms had pants pockets. Geordi pulls a Type I out of one in that episode where the Romulans brain wash him. I'm too lazy to look up the name of the episode right now. :rommie:

^ It was called "Minds Eye".

That last bit there... about the wallets and keys... was a joke. I was not being serious. I was making a funny.

Everyone knows that Starfleet equipment is carried in holsters that clip onto the waist of the uniform. Anything bigger than that is carried in a case. For further information to this conundrum, I would suggest consulting the costume designers. For an "in universe" explanation, I suggest making something up. It is, after all, only a television show.

the dresses!

No-no, you need to go back earlier to the leggings for the full Conquistador-at-royal-court look.

yeah, sorry about that, should of realized it was a joke.

yeah those were good.
But star fleet uniforms are always long sleeves.
So how come even in NEMESIS when Picard was in the desert did he not over heat. Is there so environmental system tied into their uniforms.
